Are they supposed to forecast:
A) how good each team is and ranking them accordingly
B) how they should do according to their schedule and ranking them accordingly from there?

Or are they doing something else completely?

If you know the answer for AP poll or USA, please respond.

... they try to predict how the polls will look at the end of the season rather than solely ranking the strength of the teams.

I would personally rather see them rank how good teams are now (if that's even possible) instead of guessing where everyone will land at the end.

I would also like if they clarified what they were predicting with the preseason polls. They can leave the final ranking business to Vegas.

The answer you're looking for is:

They're doing something else completely.

The official poll as it stands now is a reflection of how things will be a week before the highly anticipated Clemson-Wyoming showdown.
