Prediction: CJ Fuller

Aug 10, 2017, 8:36 PM

Will be the feature back and will have a breakout year. Coach Elliot said that whoever protects the QB with his life will play and CJF will do that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've always thought that a lot of folks underestimated CJ.

Aug 10, 2017, 9:34 PM

The idea that we recruited him to be a DB was pretty popular back when he committed, but I never understood that; he's a RB all the way and always has been. There's a lot of competition at RB this year, however, and there is no established leader like Gallman. I expect CJ to get his carries and have some shining moments, but I think that applies to each of our top 3 RBs this year, maybe top 4. Gonna be tough for any one to separate in my opinion.

You are on drugs. If Fuller is our top back, we are in trouble. I am not going to bash any kid, but he is not a D1 back--sorry, he just isn't. Choice beat out Gallman as our starter before he got injured and had no confidence last year, so if he regains that, I look for him to fight Feaster for the top spot. If Feaster blocks any at all, he wins the spot.JMO

Tend to agree more with the OP. Feaster is more talented but Fuller is solid, and when given the opportunity, produces. What I see is a 50-50 split initially on playing time. Whoever shows out more will start. I don't have a preference, results results results. Fuller can do the job, but I think Feaster can do it better. Can being the optimum word. And no, I don't do drugs.

I can tell that you are an excellent judge of talent. Thank you for your insight.

I don't understand bashing on Fuller and then hyping up

Choice. Choice was our worst back by a pretty significant margin last year. I don't think confidence is going to magically take him 3.5 YPC to the top back on the roster. I don't think he's ever going to be the same player that he might have become without the injury.

As for Fuller, he's not elite, but i like the way he runs, and i love him as a receiving threat out of the backfield. He burned both SC and OSU on long wheel routes late in the season.

Since you mentioned drugs, I'll respond:

Aug 11, 2017, 12:40 PM [ in reply to Re: Prediction: CJ Fuller ]

2016 Snaps
CJ Fuller: 172
Adam Choice: 120
Tavien Feaster: 72

2016 Snaps less SC State
CJ Fuller: 159
Adam Choice: 104
Tavien Feaster: 48

2016 Games Played
CJ Fuller: 15
Tavien Feaster: 12
Adam Choice: 11

2016 Snaps per Game Played
CJ Fuller: 11.47
Adam Choice: 10.91
Tavien Feaster: 6

2016 Games with 1st/2nd most RB Snaps
CJ Fuller: 9
Adam Choice: 7
Tavien Feaster: 3

So we went and won a national title with our primary backup RB who isn't D1 caliber?
GFY

And to preempt any rebuttal about Feaster only being a freshman:
CJ Fuller: 46 touches, 215 yards
Tavien Feaster: 44 touches, 221 yards

I am looking for your point-----As I said before CJF is a role player. He was not a back up RB, he was a fill in so DG could rest. You will see him behind both Choice and Feaster, you will see him play(and he deserves to, he is a team player) but he is not someone who can get us the needed yards to win games. As far as a blocker, DG was the only one we had last year and CJF is the lightest returner at RB this year at 209lbs---so be real about this.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's absolutely no evidence to support those claims

Aug 11, 2017, 7:50 PM

YPC last year:

Feaster 6.0 (37 att)
Dye 5.2 (21 att)
Gallman 4.9 (232 att)
Fuller 4.5 (47 att)
Choice 3.5 (45 att)

And Gallman was a similar weight as Fuller so i don't really see why that's significant. Choice needs to improve significantly to even be the 2nd back. 3.5 ypc is really, really bad.

You got so many things wrong with this post it's almost comical

Aug 11, 2017, 8:00 PM [ in reply to Re: Since you mentioned drugs, I'll respond: ]

1. It's amusing you don't even know who our starting RB was last year.
2. You say he wasn't a back up and then state his role was exactly what a back up does.
3. He's not thee lightest RB we have.
4. Gallman was 210 last year and he seemed to block ok, I don't think 1 extra pound would matter too much.

Fuller is better than Choice and its not even close.

I think he and Feaster will log in equal time in the first part of the season . By the VT game though , I think Geaster will garner more carries and eventually become the starter .
I believe CJ/Choice and maybe Etienne will all play significant downs this season barring injuries...but Feaster will be the feature back imo.

DB23

Feasted has way more upside.

Aug 11, 2017, 12:01 PM

But with a new QB I believe Fuller will be in there and excell because he will sell out to whatever is needed, not just carry the ball.

My point is, Choice was way ahead of him before his injury and was tentative when he returned. If he returns to old form he will be 1st or 2nd team, depending on Feaster's progress. If Feaster lives up to his billing, everyone knows who the starter will be. What is missed in all this is which QB is playing--KB does not need as much protection, as he will tuck it quicker. As far as receiving goes, this is a strength of Feasters --as well as Fuller.JMO

Did you miss seeing Fuller lay the wood nearly every time he ran the ball last year? Especially at the end of the year.

Feaster has way more upside.

No offense

Aug 11, 2017, 9:30 PM

But, protecting the QB isn't the only thing. And if that's all he can do (is
protect the QB) there will be no, BREAK OUT SEASON.

Honestly, IMO-- he's the 4th most talented back.

I think he gets good carries and might start but I see him sharing a lot of snaps with Fiester. I think since his shoulder is better he has become a much better blocker. I think it's hard to keep him off the field looked very good in the spring game, you can tell the game has slowed down for him.

The scrimmage today will show which back has done the necessary work in the off-season to carry the mail. I do not have a favorite but if looks mean anything Feaster looks the part. We should have word later today who at several positions separated themselves from the pack.

Fuller has held onto the ball while taking abuse - blind side hit, pass interference, celebration hits.
