Poll ranking

Nov 18, 2012, 9:43 AM

I think my rankings are spot on...

Winning the national championship is about winning your games (being undefeated or closest to that), and the quality of your losses (losing to a better team than other teams with the same record).

1. Notre Dame (11-0)
2. Florida (10-1), lost to 10-1 Georgia, SEC better than ACC
3. Clemson (10-1), lost to 10-1 Florida St.
4. Alabama (10-1), lost to 9-2 Texas A&M,
5. Georgia (10-1), lost to 9-2 South Carolina, SEC better than PAC-12, (can flip 4&5 because Texas A&M and South Carolina both lost to the same teams)
6. Oregon (10-1), lost to 9-2 Stanford
7. Florida St. (10-1), lost to 6-5 NC State, ACC better than Big East and 6 wins is better than 5
8. Louisville (10-1), lost to 6-5 Syracuse
9. Kansas State (10-1), lost to 5-5 Baylor
10.Rutgers (9-1), lost to 10-1 Kent St., but the MAC is not a major conference

That's it for major teams with 1 loss. All 2 loss teams are not even in the equation.

can anyone argue with this. Standings are subject to change on a week-to-week basis, but as of right now...this is the way it is.

if both Clemson and Florida St. win their last game, and Florida St. wins the ACC title game, then they would move ahead of us because 12 wins is better than 11.

at this point, can anyone justifiably argue with me ranking Clemson #3 right now...without a computer and looking at what the results have been on the field???

i don't see how you can put Clemson ahead of FSU

they beat us head to head..period.

in my book head to head always trumps when talking about same record and its not like they got blown out at NC State...last second play to lose by 1 pt.

I understand what your saying, and if they win out, they move ahead of us, based on my logic that 12 wins is better than 11. But as of right now...they lost to a 6-5 team...

He is basing it off of worse LOSSES

FSU lost to NC State and we lost to FSU

yes, and wouldn't you agree that doing it this way takes the emotion out of "who do you think is better" and puts things back where they should be...which is "what actually happened on the field". the national championship is a marathon and not a sprint...it's about the best team over the season as a whole.
