Do you like it?

Feb 25, 2020, 4:51 PM

I have a weber that is probably 15 years old. I smoke in it all the time with the indirect heat. It works really well. I had a pellet smoker for awhile, and it was easy and worked okay, but the Weber is the bomb. I've been thinking about getting a new one the last 5 years or so.

So far I've only used it once.

Feb 27, 2020, 12:33 PM

Will be using it again this weekend, so I can tell you more on Monday. So far I love it. I got the itty bitty one, which is 14.5", and it has plenty of space for me because there are two shelves inside.

Before I had the Smokey Mountain I would smoke in my Weber kettle using the snake method. It worked fine, but I like my tools to be single purpose. A dedicated smoker is a swell investment.

Cook N' Cajun modified. Stainless steel water pan. The old enamel one rusted to easily.

UDP Akorn. I believe I documented it's purchase about

Feb 25, 2020, 5:29 PM

5 years ago on here, if not more, with the intention of seeing if I liked Kamado cooking, and ditching it when I figured it would turn to rust within a couple years.

Oddly enough, it's still going strong in good condition, and I don't go low and slow often enough to justify upgrading. It'll hold 250 all day with no issues, but if I intended to cook at 200-225 frequently, I'd need ceramic.

Still got my old Traeger and Pit Barrel Cooker

Feb 25, 2020, 5:37 PM

I am at some point going to replace my Traeger with a Memphis or Yoder, but the PBC is great and cooks a lot of food.

I have a big weber kettle grill that I can indirect smoke on, but I never do anymore. It works okay.

I've tried smoking things on a charbroiler gas grill, but it doesn't work very good.

I built a cinder-block pit that I used once. It flamed out and burned the plywood lid and nearly burned down my shed.

I've had a masturbuilt barrel electric smoker that was super cheap and not versatile at all.

I've had two masturbuilt refrigerator style electric smokers that caught the AIDS and died.

Now I have a Pit Boss Austin XL pellet smoker that I love.

Pit Barrel Cooker for me

Feb 27, 2020, 3:01 PM

I will be adding a gas smoker of some sort soon that I will finish my cooks on once the pit barrel charcoals die out and I want a stable temperature for the rest of the day.
