Stupid coots

Dec 30, 2014, 10:42 AM

I like sewers, so I went over to FGF and spotted this gem:

"Re: Clemson underachieved
Clemson fans laughed at us for having three 11 win seasons in a row and no championships. Well, they now have four 10 win seasons in a row and no championships."

***cough cough*** 2011 ACC championship ring a bell, doofus?

I laugh at their 122 years and one ACC championship !***

Plus, in the last four years, Clemson has achieved...

Dec 30, 2014, 10:59 AM

...a BCS bowl win, another BCS bowl appearance, and a defense that ranked Number One nationally. It's odd. For the past few years, we've been hearing about the vaunted defenses of South Carolina with Gilmore, Clowney, Swearinger, and Taylor. Yet, not one of those guys ever played for the nation's top-ranked defense.

In truth, I know not a single Power Five school that, during its glory period, achieved so little as South Carolina: no national title, no conference title, no major bowl appearance (Orange, Fiesta, Sugar, Rose), no major bowl victory, no top-ranked offense or defense, etc.

It is funny. Clemson fans don't even consider 2011 through 2014 to be their "glory years," yet they have had more accomplishments during that duration than South Carolina.

Silly mechanic! ACC titles don't count!*

*Please, please ignore the fact that the only championship banner hanging proudly in WB is for the 1969 ACC Championship.

They won in '69 by accident and default.

Does preseason #9 count as beating a ranked team or were they just another of the un ranked blowouts?

Clemson underachieved??!! How about starting the season #9 in the country and favored to win your division, only to go 6-6 and barely squeak by a lousy Miami team in the Duck Duck Goose Bowl!

Is there any other kind?***

Best teams ever? These were good Clemson teams

Dec 30, 2014, 12:35 PM

the last few years, but I don't think you can call any of them our best ever. The 81 squad has to get #1, and the late 80's early 90's were also outstanding teams. This year and the last were the two first fundamentally sound teams we've fielded under Dabo. Prior to that, we had some huge, glaring gaps (secondary, LB play, RB play, OL play, etc).

Going forward, I expect us to be very complete for the next few years. Those may be the best teams Clemson has ever fielded, but we'll have to wait and see.
