When a college football player has declared for the draft and left school how does he support himself until he gets a contract? Does his agent front him or???

On the same topic did Taj Boyd receive any money whatsoever from an NFL team?

If he is someone like DW or Sammy or NUK etc...
no problem. Tajh was a scout team player for
a while and I believe that got him $700. per
game, maybe a small signing bonus.

Players also get paid while in training camp...

Of course, all players will have their room and board covered during preseason training camp, but they also receive a per diem (rookies get about $1,200 per week while veterans get about $2,100) regardless of individual contracts which generally aren't paid during training camp although that may vary with some teams.

The way I always understood it the agent gives the player an advance. How much depends on his future draft stock.
