Personal: my son just made his middle school basketball team

I know this isn't clemson related other than we are huge fans! Just a proud dad. ...
My son tried out for his middle school basketball team last year (7 th grade) and got cut the last day. This year he spent 3 months twice a week going to a basketball training program which he helped pay for. ... worked out with me on off days both in the court and in the gym (strength training). ...and he Made The Team!
So proud and happy for him being rewarded for all his hard work and determination.
He desperately wants to play for Clemson. ...... I have no illusions....I know how much of a long shot that is but I've told him if he keeps working and pushing himself he #### Sure can make a real go at it!

Thanks. I might be just as excited as he is. The look on his face with hands in the air when he walked out from the gym tonight after hearing his name called. ......priceless. 40+ kids and he was one of 12. Almost choked up honestly.
I played NAIA. Makes it even more special seeing him fall in love with a sport I both loved and played.

ya don't have to be the biggest, or the fastest, or the best shot....effort and contribution counts for a ton.....and I point as example one of my favorite Tiger basketball players of all time:
Dickie "Floorburn" Foster.......who may not have been the most talented player we every had, but nobody tried harder

Absolutely! Great advice! He commented on how his shots weren't falling one day (3 days of tryouts) but he just worked that much harder rebounding, playing defense, running, etc. Love hearing him talk like that. Truly blessed with a special kid.

Great story and great parenting!
Your son being able to actually see that his hard work and dedication do pay off will provide enormous dividends in the future! Both on, but more importantly, in life. You should be proud of yourself for selling the dream and proving an environment for him to work for his dreams.
