I was operated on on the USS Sanctuary in 1970 off the coast of Viet Nam and those hospital ships are incredibly equipped and staffed. What a blessing to have them available.

When I was with USSOUTHCOM we used to have the Mercy

or the Comfort take a month-long swing down to Latin and South America. Those guys performed thousands of surgeries for the poor in the region - everything from cataract removal to appendectomy's. Truly an amazing capability with a top notch staff. I'm glad we are bringing these assets home to help our own.
