Urban Meyer is a win at all cost HC, but he is a good recruiter. If you look at how some key California talent is being lured out of state; UM could help stop the bleeding.

And you can bet his first targets will be DJ and Flowe.

Unlikely he'd go after DJ

USC already has a highly rated QB committed. First matter of business would be keeping Young on board, not going after a guy you aren't likely to flip.

If DJ and Flowe sign during the early signing period, Urban

would have almost no time to flip them. USC would have to do something unprecedented like hiring Urban mid-season instead of using an interim coach.

I think DJ is signing with Clemson regardless. Urban's best chance at Flowe would be to make a quick pitch urging him to wait until the February signing period so he would have 2 more months to work on him.

Did he not leave coaching due to health issues...again?

I don't think DJ is salvageable for USC. My impression is he buys everything about Clemson and the fit is perfect.

Not so sure about Flowe but if he announces a commitment to Clemson, I doubt he would change his mind later because of Urban Meyer. If he holds off a decision, then I dunno.

When it comes to recruiting, UM's track record speaks for itself. Let's suppose he's hired early December. Two things:

1 I question his ability to single-handedly flip top level recruits so late in the game. Remember, he won't have a staff with pre-existing relationships with recruits. IMO, it's 2021 where he will make an impact.

2 The guy is seriously tarnished and will never completely live down his past. He is a dirty/filthy recruiter who is notorious for bad-mouthing other programs to win commitments. That stuff ain't gonna work like it used to because his cred has been publicly shattered. Most anyone will be an upgrade over Clay Helton, but UM's Midas-touch on the trail won't be what it used to be.
