pouring rain doesn't help either. Most NFL fields start to looking like crap around this time of year. With all the money NFL teams have, don't know why they can't keep their fields looking good.

great the field looked during the Notre Dame game. He said the decision was made 10 or 11 years ago to do what was necessary. Well, they did, and did it very well.

And they just installed new sod a few weeks back preventing the coots from hosting LSU there.

The field at the San Francisco stadium is setting up to be such an embarrassment for the NFL. Sinkholes, chunks of sod coming up, etc. With the world watching it could be a disaster

They are going nuts trying to get grass issue fixed. Its been a disaster since stadium opened.

Was it some sort of human error or is it a product of the climate? I know I've heard someone mention that the stadium location could be a problem.
Haven't looked too much into it other than what I've watched during games. Thanks

Drought killed us through last two years but grass choices didnt help from what ive read. Santa Clara is hotter than hell until this time if year. Though a Bay Area city, it is far inland and gets hardly any marine layer moisture that SF, Monterey, Santa Cruz get. Blazing sun fries that place and drought hurt bad. Everyone misses the cold miserable dump called Candlestick in SF. I went twice to the Stick and what a great hell raising dump it and Oakland Coliseum are/were. Great great fans and a ton of history.

The Bermuda turf is not actively growing as there weather

gets colder, so the field has either been oversewed with Ryegrass or painted. The Ryegrass never really provides a good surface....basically just making the turf look green instead of the Bermuda that is in the process of going dormant. Some fields are painted and of course, they certainly does not do anything to help the condition of the field. There is just not a lot that the grounds crew can do. If they re-sod, they are just installing dormant, or near dormant Bermuda Sod, or Bermuda sod that has been overseeded with Rye.
