Our athletic department needs to make a commitment to Basketball.

I have always been a supporter of Brad Brownell, but it's looking more and more like a change must be made. I hate it for him because of how nice of a guy he is.

If the athletic department decides to make a change we need to hire a big name coach. If we aren't willing to open the checkbook up, don't fire Brownell. There is no reason to fire a career 500 coach and replace him with another.

I only hope the best for Brad, and I'll continue to pull for a miracle turnaround.

Go Tigers!

Their list should start and end with Will Wade

Obviously if he turns us down we will have to expand the search (and honestly he may with VCU being a more premier job than Clemson now).

That being said, he's a young guy, a Clemson alum, former Clemson manager in undergrad, former Clemson GA, and a disciple of a system that OP proved can work here at Clemson.

It also doesn't hurt that most of our newest recruits he was also recruiting up at VCU so they'll have some familiarity. He's by far the best hire we could possibly make IMO

The good thing is we have the Natty to keep us positive haha***

I'd prefer a high energy, youngish black guy

No clue who that is.

We need a coach who can recruit - period. It can't be

Emphasized enough.

If he is a basketball genius but can't recruit at this level, we don't want him.

If he is a great motivator but can't recruit at this level, we don't want him.

If he has a Purnell-like system that allows us to win with a gimmick but can't recruit at this level, we don't want him.

Any coach we hire absolutely must be, above and beyond all else, an excellent recruiter.

Whether it is a big-name coach that can attract players based on name alone, or a young dynamic coach who kids want to play for, it doesn't matter.

The inability to recruit at a higher level limited Purnell and killed Brownell. We cannot make that same mistake again. Set the bar high and get a guy who can recruit. Clemson itself has plenty to offer student athletes - we need a basketball coach who can sell it.
