Easier to try and regrout some tile or just bust it all out and start over with new tile?

I got to taking a closer look at the shower we haven't used since moving in like a year ago and there is a lot of damaged and flat out missing in the shower floor. This seems like a great way to have leaks.

Sounds like a job for

a professional.

If you are missing tiles I think I'd replace it all, to big of a chance doing all the work and still having water get up under one that didn't seat all the way and your dealing with a leak anyway.

and put multiple heads in this shower stall.

All of this sounds pretty expensive though.

Sell the house - but that’s my go to response

whenever there’s a home maintenance issue.

Seriously all new tile- could do bathroom shower yourself if mechanically inclined. But would also consider a pro if shower and floor are in need and maybe masonry, plumbing, structural or other work. Some good home handyman type can do it all.

doing a re-fi on the thing, so of course I will be selling the place before the closing close are recouped.

Tile is a massive PITA for anyone to tackle...

Apr 20, 2020, 11:08 AM

Yes it can be done, and I've done it, but if you can hire a professional. Especially if you are adding shower heads

I think it's a lot harder than you think

Apr 20, 2020, 11:52 AM

I don't do tile or any masonry. Mainly because if you are just a little off when you start, you will be way off at the end.

Even with a string and level just being an inch off will be noticeable.

get a pro to handle it

tile in a shower is probably a lot trickier and a higher potential for leaks if not done correctly

I just did a floor on a half bath
