a vehicle with manual transmission? Sports cars are fine by me, as long as they have a clutch pedal. Trucks too. Where's the thrill of shifting into "D"?

I mean, maybe if you are over 70 and have arthritis or something, you can get away with an automatic. Or maybe missing a left leg.

I hear you, but the 10 speed auto in my 'Stang is pretty dang sweet.

Motor trend tested the Auto at 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, with 12.1 seconds (118.8mph on the quarter mile).

The manual transmission was 4.4 seconds to 60mph, and 12.6 seconds (115.1mph on the quarter mile).

I like your funny words magic man

Manuals are unfortunately going extinct

May 28, 2019, 9:25 AM [ in reply to Re: Can you really respect a man who doesn't drive ]

I've only owned one Automatic in my life because to me it takes all the fun out of driving. And it was (is - I still own it) a special edition sports car I just HAD to have. As awesome as it is to drive fast, its missing the most important feature - that adrenaline rush of gearing down and crushing the gas pedal.

I think I've told this story on here before - few years ago I went to buy a Jeep Wrangler at the Lake Keowee dealership, the one between Clemson and Seneca. They had probably 90-100 Wranglers on site (they sell the hang out of Wranglers, more per capita around here than just about anywhere on Earth it seems).

Anyways, out of those 100ish Jeeps of every color and feature available, they had like 3 with manual transmissions. Jeeps. Jeep Wranglers. Almost made me weep for humanity. I ended up having to special order one.

I doubt I'll ever own another manual trasnmission.

May 28, 2019, 9:25 AM [ in reply to Can you really respect a man who doesn't drive ]

Sports cars are useless to me; and shifting a 910 LB ft diesel seems dumb when there is an automatic available.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who doesn't? Yes. Who can't? No.***

When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

Pretty much any 1500 series truck is rated to tow that.

May 28, 2019, 9:26 AM

or at least close to that.
