How much $ from the ncaa tournament does Clemson get

Apr 9, 2019, 9:20 AM

this year from being in the acc?

Tiger fan question of the day +1

Apr 9, 2019, 9:24 AM

Way to bring the board back to a relevant topic.

On a side note, though, this reminds me of the "public perception of Coot football" topic. I am sure Coot football asks this question every year. Does Clemson hoops=SCAR football?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's definitely on par with coot football but I'm curious

Apr 9, 2019, 9:27 AM

how much it breaks down to.

One important difference between SCAR FB

and Clemson Basketball - a 1990 ACC Basketball Championship.

Small but no less important to point out.

Re: South Carolina can say the same thing about facilities and $

Apr 10, 2019, 7:03 AM

Speaking of being outspent. There are some programs that use private charters to fly their team to games and tournaments. I saw that UCLA is just starting to do that this next season. Do we do that or do we still go commercial?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, I don't. I do not think being outspent is the difference

Re: How much $ from the ncaa tournament does Clemson get

Apr 9, 2019, 7:21 PM

Each game in the NCAA tournament pays roughly $275,000 to each team. Take the total number of games an ACC team participated in and multiply that by $275,000. Then divide by 15 which is the number of teams in the ACC. That number is Clemson’s Cut.

Note: If two ACC played each other, the conference gets $550,000 for that game.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I’m pretty sure Zion gets half...and then the other half is divided.***

Re: How much $ from the ncaa tournament does Clemson get

Apr 10, 2019, 6:55 AM

Clemson has averaged receiving $1.47M for the previous 6 tournaments we didn’t make before 2018. The year we went we actually lost money because of travel expenses. Seems the NCAA pays travel expenses and a per diem for the first 75 people in the group but we took about 125 people to the 3 games so expenses exceeded reimbursement for the year we made it. Ole Brad knew it was more profitable to play two home games in the NIT instead of making the dance - just another way he’s two steps ahead of the TNet bunch.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow ! Coach B is a financial genius !

Apr 10, 2019, 2:19 PM

That just reinforces my argument that Coach B should be the A.D. and that other guy is the one who should be fired, for making some really boneheaded contract decisions.
