Morris and our O-line creating success on the ground is

Nov 24, 2013, 1:43 AM

going to be the key in this game. Talk all you want about Usuc, their tackiness, QB's, receivers, and other BCS scenerios, but that has been the success of good teams winning down the stretch.

Ward (D coordinator) has a simple philosophy in that they think they can beat most teams by stopping the run.

I hope Morris has figured this out finally when trying to be cute with the throwing it around playcalling. This is how Usuc has been beating us the last few years.

Agreed, in part. Success on the ground is obviously a by-product of this, but the key to me is our O-Line just holding their own. We get beat when teams play in our backfield. We don't really need to blow them off the ball (although I'm all for that), we just need to give Tajh time to operate and give the ground game some merit to keep them honest. I can't stand watching the first few plays of the game and seeing our lines get dominated because it always spells doom, regardless of our advantages at the skill positions.

comments about stopping the run were short but revealing. And going back and looking at it, UGA and UT were 2 teams where they let the run get away from them and they got beat because of it. UT had over 140 (so did Mizzou); UGA had 227 yards on the ground.

Same goes for Vandy (121) and Kentucy (123), two teams that SCAR didn't play so hot against. I hope Morris realizes this. If we can rack up at least 100 yards rushing I think we win.

Didn't realize Vandy rushed the ball so well.***

I'd also like to add that during our best win of the season (UGA) we racked up 197 yards. We must run the football. MUST. If we don't, we get our butts handed to us again.

One hundred percent true.***

I'd like to see some more JJ McCollough. Maybe an omen?***

I agree

If we can somehow crack about a 100 yards rushing between Boyd, Hot Rod, and somebody else, the Tigers chances of winning are good.

runnig at Clowney wil slow him down and keep him out of backfield. He is good at getting through the lanes being untouch. Spend the field and then run it with 89 as te/fb and sammy/hotrod as tb with bryant, williams, humphies, seckinger as two wrs.
