On paying CFB players: (number-y poast)

There are 130 FBS programs and 124 FCS D1 programs.
FBS teams get 85 full scholarships a year, FCS gets 63.

That's 18,862 full scholarships in D1.

In 2019, 254 players were taken in the NFL draft.

That's 1.35% of D1 scholarship athletes.

Now consider that not every draft pick makes the team. Over the last 10 years, the following percentages of draft picks by round did NOT make their team after being drafted:

5th: 19%
6th: 30%
7th: 42%

That's 35 draftees (rounded down) that don't make their team.

So only 219 draft picks make a team.

That's only 1.16% of D1 scholarship athletes.

I think if it happens, schools will be insanely regulated on how much money they can give players (if any). And how many big time businesses and agents are gonna want to invest in a player that doesn't go on the NFL?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that IF THIS HAPPENS, hopefully only the 1%ers of CFB are affected. Personally, I don't want players to get paid, and corruption is the reason. You can't deny the ridiculous revenue these players bring in, so there's a part of me that WANTS to pay them, I just don't trust the system to come up with a way to do it that's fair.

End of long poast. I'm a Clemson engineer, so I like numbers :)
