Not to burst any bubbles but if anyone thinks we will have football in the fall you are out of your mind

Are they saying DabO is wrong?!

I think football can play again in Sept.

Way too early to make definitive proclamation.

Pretty grim stuff but very informative.

Since medical professionals won't have the final say, the real question is whether politicians will follow their advice.

If you believe this character, and I do not, you have to cast the net far beyond just sports. What he's saying is, there won't be students on University campuses, there won't be passengers on cruise ships or jumbo jets and there won't be people in hotels ore restaurants until a vaccine is available 'en masse." There's no way this country, or any country, can continue as we are now for 18 months and survive. It'll make "the Great Depression" seem like a child's birthday party. There'll be utter chaos. Riots and looting will be common place. Once that takes place, it's just a matter of time until there is a complete societal breakdown. I respect the medical profession's expertise. They've made great strides in my lifetime. But in reality, it was medical experts who said half of Americans would get the virus and the death toll would be between 250,000 and 500,000. Now there argument is, "those estimates assumed we did nothing to resist the virus." In other words, they assumed the American people are complete idiots who are incapable of rational thought. "Hogwash!" They, like most professionals, have a hard time admitting they are wrong. But that's exactly what they were; "wrong!" I tend to see the world the way Dabo does; positively. Even through years of "dumbing down" our public education system, there still are many people capable of rational thought. There are scary smart people in this old world. I predict that within eighteen months, we'll look back and see the gross overreaction this was. At the present, it appears no more people will die from COVID 19 in America than will die from Influenza. Both are tragic. To think that tens of thousands of people will die breaks my heart. Who knows, I may be one of them. There are no guarantees. Yet life goes on. We need to be wise and protect ourselves as best we can. But we can't stop living out of a fear of dying. Rather, we need to make necessary preparations such that when death approaches, and it's coming for us all, we are ready. Beyond that, we need to make the most of every new day and recognize it as the gift from God it truly is. So I say we'll have football in the fall and I'm looking forward to it. I'm not so sure we'll have people in the stands, though I wouldn't rule it out. The next 60 days will tell the tale on that. Go Tigers!

Well... maybe SI will finally go out of business if sports

doesn't come back soon. So there could be an upside to all these dismal stories that SI keeps pushing...

The airline industry will never fully recover from this. It will take several years for international air travel to return to what it is today. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't true. I've been in the industry 30+ years and my furlough is effective May 2nd.

The cruise business is mortally wounded. I never went on a cruise for sanitary reasons. Even before C19, the industry had serious issues. For reasons that escape me, lots of events did not receive widespread public attention. What's happened during the virus will never be forgotten.

Nobody is saying the country will stay in quarantine 18 months until a vaccine is widely available. That is a straw man. The door will pry open in May and we'll see what happens.

Regarding football and other major sporting events, they will be the last thing allowed (except for maybe cruises). You need to accept the idea CFB in 2020 is at risk. Get angry all you want but there are legitimate reasons for concern. Like everyone else, I hope they figure something out. Keep in mind all 50 states might have to agree on this. I still believe in miracles though.
