Oh my has our QB play improved over the years

Apr 17, 2020, 9:45 PM

I recorded Clemson BC game (Dabos first victory) from ACC take over day and man was QB play bad (Cullen Harper). We had some pretty good defenders and a backfield with James Davis and CJ Spiller w Jacoby Ford and Tyler Grisham as wide outs. Every time Tajh/Deshaun/Trevor throw a long ball I look up w excitement to see if it’ll be a TD. In this game every time Harper throws I wonder if it will be another pick. I remember Will Proctor thrown in around that timeframe as well ??

what, you don't view the Parker/Harper/Korn era with the same glow as Boyd/Watson/Lawrence?

Amazing what improved coaching can do for you!

I haven’t rewatched that yet, but did do 2009 ACCCG when ACCN premiered. All the pre-snap shifting was painful compared to how we play now.

amazing what an offensive line that can hold a pocket for more than 4 seconds can do for a dude's QBR. As I recall, Harper was running for his life to the sidelines more often than he was completing a downfield pass. Remember that the year Bowden got fired, our Offensive Line was only slightly better than the one that almost got Whitehurst decapitated in '02 tangerine bowl..

Davis and Spiller would be averaging 6-8 yards a carry behind last year's line, and we should see even more improvement should we play this fall. We ooh and ahh over the skill talent coming in, but we have been quietly building one of the better lines in the country. Judging by the offer sheets of the guys we signed over the past 3 years, the future is looking very bright for the Clemson offense.

I think this years line takes a small step back

Outside of Carman of course. This is kind of a gap year for our OL.

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

we'll be fine. Plenty of snaps out of this group already and we do not really have any challenges on our schedule until November.
