The Red Carpet Lounge...

Jan 29, 2013, 3:20 PM

Who besides me had the pleasure of drinking many a cold one at the Red Carpet (or are you too young to know what I'm talking about)?

I worked the door, bounced and collected cover at the red carpet lounge. That place was not good for my GPA. And we had a fairly steady biker crowd.

I was there is 79-81 ..I think

The Red Carpet Lounge would later become Tiger Town Tavern

Jan 29, 2013, 3:38 PM

Although the Red Carpet Lounge was a little before my time, I do remember the brother of one of my fraternity brothers telling the story that the place closed in the late 70's after someone got shot there. It was shortly thereafter that Tiger Town Tavern opened.

Jan 29, 2013, 3:41 PM

When I was 16, maybe 17, I ventured in with a buddy who was in Clemson, no ID needed.

How about the Tiger Den.

Yes, at lunch, a dog and a draft for a dollar.

Any many a night enjoying cool ones, pinball and shuffleboard downstairs.

I think they called the downstairs at one time, the Bengal Huddle???

Jan 29, 2013, 4:20 PM

Stores. It was out at the intersection of main street and the highway. Tiger Town was open while Red Carpet lounge was open. TTT was a beer bar (keep in mind beer was legal at 18, not liquor )

Downtown bars didn't serve liquor (dept Nick's) .Bullwinkles was in the hole behind Red Carpet Lounge.

I remember it well ..... and then .. I can't remember

Jan 29, 2013, 4:22 PM

My roommate was old friends of the bartender (Rick something ??) and his wife. So when we went there in the afternoons, he'd click off a couple of dozen or so free plays on the jukebox and bring us the first pitcher for free. We'd play tunes and have a few more pitchers ..... sometimes classes were missed, sometimes meals were missed, alot of times the trough was missed, once in a while a day was missed, and many memories and stories were ...well ... let's say forgotten.
But a good time was always had (and started) at the Red Carpet Lounge !!!

I couldn't remember whether his name was Rick or Randy. He hired me.me ..I remember thinking his wife was so good looking...but I digress. I took over at the door for a guy named Barry.

The place was absolutely not good for the educational experience at Clemson.

Here is a question for some of you other old timers.

I lived in Toms Trailer Park at that time for several years. Does anyone remember tom...it is now a Bilo
