It won't make any difference in what God does but it will make you feel better.

God doesn't bring injury in my opinion. However, I believe He is moved by prayer and listens to the prayers of His children. Injury is part of football, but if don't think there is anything wrong with praying for players to be safe and injury free. Now praying to win, on the other hand? What if both teams are Christians?

I suspected the kid asked an honest question and deserved an honest answer from someone who knows the benefits of prayer.
We are instructed to pray for one another. This is how we learn to love.
We are also instructed to bring our wants and needs to God's in prayer. He always meets our needs and thus we learn to differentiate between the two.
Ultimately therefor, we learn to live by faith, knowing that God remains on His Throne Eternally. Thereby we find peace in knowing that by faith He always has everything under control.
Now go back to FGF and teach the heathen about the True and Living God.

You may make any request, and if asked fervently and it is worthy of granting, in God's eyes, it will happen. You can mark it down.

The Bible says, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man, avails much." Never a bad idea to pray for health, no matter the circumstances surrounding the person.

Would depend on the motives. Praying for all athletes in a sporting competition to be protected by God would be a perfectly good prayer. Praying only to protect our team with a motive of creating a competitive edge would be a selfish and self serving prayer. It would fall under what Jesus called "asking amiss."

No sincere prayer with good intentions is wrong...

but remember God cares for all players not just ours. pray the same for all players, coaches and fans. Also God wants our guys to take every precaution in securing safety, that is Godly wisdom. EX: To pray for good grades and not study is not smart or of God.
Also remember, when injuries happen its not that God is not watching over players or answering our prayers but trust that He would not allow any injury or tragedy that He cant use somehow for his Glory.
Remember prayer is ultimately about HIM not Us!
If you ever have any other spiritual questions feel free to tmail me. God Bless & Go Tigers!

I am fairly confident that prayer is absolutely about believers talking with God which makes it a tool for building a relationship with Him. Relationship only happens when both sides are able to share with each other. Prayer is the way we as believers talk to the Creator. And yes His Word is quite clear that our prayers are heard and do indeed make a difference .
All glory to Him! Go Tigers!
