UMD to Big10. Penn St to ACC.

The BIG10 and ACC work cooperatively with each other to mitigate the exit fee and GOR.
Why would the BIG10 do this? They almost voted to expel PennSt earlier this year, coming within two votes of making it happen. Their relationship is strained.
UMD needs the BIG10 money and the BIG10 network would get a huge boost by adding the DC market.
The ACC would get a huge football boost with Penn St and also a $$$ boost because the ACC business model is very different from BIG10 model.
The next few months will be interesting to say the least.

I don't know if the Big10 would voluntarily give up Penn State because it would cost them money to lose the state of Pennsylvania for their network.

The net gain for adding the DC market would out weigh the loss from the rural Pennsylvania market.

They basically said UMD would have no exit fee because there would be a deal(didn't name schools). If the ACC could chit can UMD and pick up Penn State that would bolster the conference and make the other football schools happy.
Maybe the hinted news will break tomorrow. Every single time a story leaks about someone leaving, the ACC adds new members.

took a vote to expel Penn State, then so would they. TV markets aside, UMD is an administrative nightmare right now. Their AD and HFC are both first class idiots.

The additions of MD and Rutgers are a big benefit to Penn State who has been seeking other eastern and geographically favorable teams for the B10. If anything, MD further secures PSU's place in the B10.
