Not a sports related topic.... but should be of interest

To many of you. In this area of NC where I live, one of the anticipated events of each calendar year is the Dixie classics Fair held near the WF football stadium. I’m sure many of you have parked in their lots for games. Like many State or Local ‘county fairs’ it draws a lot of folks from all over the area. Has for many, many years.
I learned yesterday that the ‘powers that be’ have decided that the name Dixie just isn’t appropriate any more. As a ‘Southern Gentleman’ that really upsets me. In no way could I be classified as a ‘rassists’ but this just isn’t right! The times in which we live I guess.
One of my fondest memories of dear ole Clemson U is hearing Tiger band strike up their rendition of “Dixie” at Tiger games. Believe me, no one could do it better. I still long for those days again but I am aware that it likely will never happen. To bad for me and to bad for you thousands of fans who never had that Clemson moment to remember.
The south has changed and for the better but Dixie will always be a part of Foresttiger great memories of Clemson A & M. Go Tigers

and was written for and first performed by blackface minstrels. I can understand wanting to move away from that sort of imagery. NC's population is a bit more diverse these days.

Abraham Lincoln's favorite tunes.

Dixie has more American heroes per capita than any other region in the country.

Unfortunately today people are so danged ignorant from being dumbed down by a kommie-kore socialist education system that they know almost nothing about history.

The only thing worse than an ignorant fool thinking there's something wrong with Dixie is a worthless Southron who is ashamed of their heritage.

Many, including yours truly, believes that “Dixie” is a unifying song. In sports especially, unifying is a good thing!
