I get it, Vanderbilt is the Commodores, they sail ships!

Jun 16, 2015, 11:25 PM

At least I think that's where you were going with that.

We have to "show him the money"!

It is their job, and you work to get paid and support your family.

It wouldn't matter he is

Very loyal to the man we just fired. He wouldn't take our call.

That would be an extremely foolish business decision

considering how much money baseball already loses each year.

Hmmm? Would baseball continue to lose money at CLEMSON if we actually had a great team?

If you build it - they will come. Just an ol' saying.

That said, I prefer the Monte Lee selection as I see him as a young energetic guy that has proven he can win with the leftover recruits. That's okay with me, considering our weaknesses regarding recruiting. You gotta play the hand you're dealt IMO.

Yes, baseball will continue to lose money even if we win the CWS. Last I heard, there were only 2-3 teams out of 300 D1 teams that made a little money or broke even.

The very definition of a fair weather fan - "If you build it - they will come. Just an ol' saying".

And we recruit just fine...There is no weakness there. 7 MLB draft picks proves that.

And baseball loses money at almost every school, no matter how good the team is.

I thought baseball was lucrative? I think I read the other

Jun 17, 2015, 9:46 AM [ in reply to That would be an extremely foolish business decision ]

day that it brings in 10% of the athletics department revenue. Granted there are costs to run the program, but are you saying they're a drain on the budget?

Re: I thought baseball was lucrative? I think I read the other

Jun 17, 2015, 9:57 AM

That's exactly what I am saying. Baseball loses money at probably 99% of the schools in the country. Basketball loses money at most schools. Even football loses money at far more schools than people realize.

It's definitely a drain on the budget.

your job.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ok so why don't you post the numbers then?

Jun 17, 2015, 12:49 PM

Are expenses greater than the revenue? Post the numbers.

Jun 17, 2015, 9:47 AM

O'Sullivan yes. Corbin isn't worth that. He's playing with an extremely unfair advantage

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Still wouldn't get him.

Jun 17, 2015, 9:50 AM

Vandy with their endowment has just about every player out 27 scholarship players with a 100 percent of costs covered. According to which story you believe, A Clemson player's family is on the hook for at least $10,000 plus(closer to $20,000)a YEAR. Can't compete with that. Likewise, Sully's in a situation than Clemson with Scholarships at Florida. Coaches pay,nor loyalty to Jack were an issue(no matter what some are trying to say). Lee IS THE BEST for the job.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well , if he can call in those game saving rain storms....

Jun 17, 2015, 12:10 PM

He might be worth it....

Cause that's the only thing that got him thru the first round.....they were done.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: We should offer Corbin $1.5 million! Really!

Jun 17, 2015, 2:36 PM

First, that's a ridiculous number for a baseball coach, and second when has Clemson ever gone out with a large sum of cash to woo a big name to campus.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Vandy could match that without trying...

Jun 17, 2015, 3:12 PM

There is no way Corbin ends up here.
