Secondary Challenge
The Clemson defense lost several key pieces off of last year's team, including leaders in the secondary in Robert Smith and Garry Peters. However, safety Jayron Kearse expects that group to be even better in 2015. Full Story » |

Kearse is taking the leadership position, while McKensie is doing his usual, "quiet assassin" role. Both bringing the rest of the guys up with them.
The part I like the best though is how the offense and defense are challenging each other but critiquing each other too so they learn. THAT is TEAMWORK.
It shows that all the way up and down (coaches, staff, players), no one is being selfish or insecure, nor arrogant. Usually, one of those will seep in and folks start holding back information so they can get an upper hand to make themselves look good at the expense of another. If they can retain the culture of the team comes first and show honest respect for each other this could be a special, special era in Tiger football.
I feel truly blessed to have lived through the Danny era and now this era. Just wow!

MacKensie after the OU phenom, highly touted by ESPN

Receiver shot back at MacKensie's noodling him. From the post game locker room interview with MacKensie, the OU guy had the nerve to reference his own stature in the stat book and ESPN's ranking of him as a top 2-3 receiver in the nation as a come back at Mac.
Mac felt compelled to let him know that #@$% don't mean nothing and he will understand why after today.
Needless to say, Mac put his $ where his mouth was. ??

Yeah , Shepherd got shut down . Alexander put him in his place , told him what was about to go down and then made him like it . Our defense is going to be a strength as long as we are blessed with Venables and Reed and our other defensive position coaches. This is going to be a great year , can ya get with that ?

Everything these guys are doing & saying is a testament to doing things the right way, sharing in the team & learning to get better...instead of just trying to one-up the guy next to them. everyone helping & teaching each other, picking up one's slack & being accountable will take us to the top, if they can continue to play together & communicate... our coaches have done one helluva job!!!
Go Tigers! Orang&White game is almost here, & my birthday weekend...break out the tailgating & spot the d@mn ball :-D

Yep, he was so good he would be the #3 WR at Clemson

according to the numbers last year. Oh, and he is #3 behind a freshman.
A star at OU makes you a scrub at Clemson. Chump!

No mention of Blanks.

He's been out a while but he certainly should be able to fill in the gap at strong safety. Anybody see any reason why he wouldn't be a starter, assuming he can come back from so much time off?

year before last. Plus, we've recruited past him. At best he's a depth guy now.

Clemson’s top freshman performer in 2012 and a starting safety during most of the 2013 season before suffering a season-ending injury ... has 86 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, two quarterback pressures, nine pass breakups, two caused fumbles and two recovered fumbles in 1,038 snaps over 24 games (18 starts) in his career.

Was watching Mackensie in practice go at it...

a couple of Saturdays ago. He talks some smack, and he backs it up.
The other guy that REALLY stood out to me was Trevion Thompson at WR on the deep ball. He's going to be a monster to try & cover this year.
