No excuse...

Apr 27, 2012, 10:19 PM

for Leggett leaving Firth in the game in the 9th...even if we win this game that is just terrible coaching by Jack....Firth was our best relief pitcher earlier in the season but has a hard time throwing strikes lately....to leave a guy in to blow the game after getting a 3 run lead in the 9th is just very hard to understand...Go Tigers!!!

Watch out. We're not allowed to question Jack. He's all-knowing. :)

If we lose this game tonight it will be because of our coaches & no other reason....You do not leave a guy out there to keep walking batters with a 3 run lead in the 9th...no excuse for that....Go Tigers!!!!

He faced 4 batters, one of which was pretty much

an unintentional intentional walk before Meyer came in. Wasn't like he was just left in there. You don't pull a reliever just b/c he lets a guy get on base. Firth just didn't get the job done tonight. Simple as that.

How many strikes did he throw to the 4 batters....Walked two & gave up two hits...gives up 2 runs & leaves a man of 2nd & 3rd before he is pulled...a very tough postion to put another pitcher in with no outs in the 9th with a 5 - 4 lead...Bottom line, terrible coaching which appears to be becoming more & more common for Coach Leggett...Go Tiger!!!!

Shame Meyer was tagged with the loss

Firth and Jack should split the loss

Any of u people ever play baseball ? It is the most frustrating unexplainable freakish game there is. It's complicated and kids performance can change on a dime. It's the most consistent inconsistent game out there. Just saying. Go tigers.

Yes, I have played & I have coached. If your pitcher does not throw strikes or does not have it that night, it is your responsibility as the coach to take him out of the game (especially in a close game in which you have just taken the lead with a 3 run homer in the 9th on the road). Firth should have been pulled after letting the first two batters reach base without recording an out. There is no excuse for not pulling him as Firth has had problems throwing strikes & getting outs for a couple of weeks now (he also blew the lead in a game against Maryland last week even though we came back to win that game). Bottom line, this loss along with several other games we loss this year, falls squarely on the coaching staff & nothing else. Just terrible coaching...Go Tigers!

If you remember Campbell got injured an Firth had to come in cold.He was allowed to throw an warm-up on the mound, but when this happens the pitcher usually does not throw as many as he did in the bullpen.By the time you could get someone else loose he has walked 2 an given up a couple of hits. You would have been in the same position. You hope there that as a coach you have the right guy in the game an he can perform. Two things cost us 2 pitchers getting injured an having to be removed in the middle of the inning-how many times you seen that. The second while I do not like to blame umpires 2 terrible costs also changed the course of the game.On the play at second we could have had bases loaded an Richie at the plate with no one out, instead we have 2 on an 1 out,Annie fly ball brings home a run an they may have pitched to him differently. The call at first also changed how that inning was played
