I love how this ESPN writer Tom VanHaaren tried to publicly downplay Clemson’s landing the Nation’s #1 2020 5-Star QB recruit, DJ Uiagalelei, with his 5-5-19 ESPN headline, “Clemson Lands Top-50 QB Prospect Uiagalelei”.
Oh wow, a “Top 50 QB” everybody, isn’t that special!

Clemson has landed yet another top-50 recruit in its 2020 class with quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei. The No. 50-ranked prospect is the top pocket passer in the class and chose the Tigers over Oregon and Mt. San Antonio College.

You know if they really wanted to downplay it they could not write an article at all? Instead they write one, mention how we have more recruits ranked in the top 150 than anyone else, and a potential #1 class in the country. The way some of you try and pull the negative out of everything is amazing.

For whatever reason, ESPN has DJ U ranked 50th overall

This writer probably had no choice as he's likely contractually obligated to reference ESPN's own recruiting rankings in his articles rather than 247 or Rivals.

If you want to blame somebody here, blame Tom Luginbill and the ESPN recruiting analysts. They've been pretty low on DJ for some time now.

Well they do have him as the #1 overall QB so it's not as if they have him ranked as some sort of scrub even if the overall ranking isn't as high. They also have Clemson with 13 commits in their top 150 rankings which is twice as much as anyone else.

I realize everyone at ESPN hates us and is out to get us, but he isn't downplaying it. He is ranked the 50th overall player for them. It's a nice article.
