BCS Question
Dec 8, 2013, 12:21 AM

Am I wrong in thinking if a Conference Champ goes to the NC ,2 teams in that conference could then go to BCS Bowls if they are ranked in the top 14 of the BCS. In other words any chance USC Jr could go to a BCS, they will probably be ranked higher than OSU.

The only way a 3rd team can go is if they are conference champion and the other two teams finished 1 and 2 in the bcs ranking and were playing each other for the national championship.

There were teams eligible, but LSU was the conf champ. So 2 was the max.

"No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings."

Pretty sure its only 2 even counting the NC game. Rememeber when LSU played Bama for the NC, no one else from the SEC went to Bowl games...people made a stink about VT being in the Sugar Bowl.

That is because LSU was the conf champ. 3 teams can go, but the top 2 have to be in the NC game and they have to NOT be the conf champ. For instance, if Bama and Mizzou were #1 and #2 but Auburn won the conf. I know it isn't that way, but just for illustration purposes!

one of the two teams playing in the MNC game was the conference champion, therefore the 3rd team exception did not apply***
