Earlier poster was dead on the money about the ref moving

Nov 5, 2017, 11:44 AM

the ball up on Renfrow's downing of Kally's pooch punt. It was clearly, absolutely, unquestionably downed on the hlaf yardline. Break to commercial and when they come back the ball is squarely on the one. That kind of crap has been happening to us all year. And it was not the only time yesterday. It is about the 9:30 mark to go in the 3rd quarter.

Believe rule states anything downed inside the 1 defaults to the 1

Unless this is a brand new rule I don't think it exists.

The rule does exist ...

You have to go to the last line of the attached link.

https://www.tigernet.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=22506076

HERE'S WHAT IT SAYS: The spot of first touching is normally the yard line at which the ball is at when touched. If the first touching occurs while the ball is in the air above or beyond the goal line, and prior to the ball touching the goal line or the ground beyond the goal line, the spot of first touching is deemed to be the spot from which the touching player left the field of play, but in no event inside the receiving team’s one-yard line.

ref moving of balls

I saw some “questionable” ball placements by refs after caught passes by Deon Cain.
One sideline catch. He very much looked to step out close to 20 yard line.
But ball was spotted at 22 or so

Strange

This happened a few times resulting in 3rd and 1 instead of a 1st. Oh well. We won. Let’s whoop FSU!!!

yup the AA ref on our sideline was not even close

on 3-4 spots

Rewatching the game ,most spots were off.

According to which team was on Offense, the crew either moved it up just a little or back just a little. I'll let everyone rewatch the game and be the judge of which way it was working yesterday.

The refs didn't seem to be on anyone's side.

They are just severely incompetent.

It appears to me that after every punt in every game, they are purposely marking the ball on the nearest yard marker. Probably to make setting the chains easier.
