Anyone else hoping Bobby Petrino falls flat on his face?

Jan 9, 2014, 2:47 AM

That guy is a true scrumbag. I really can't believe he got another shot at coaching a D1 school. I hate Louisville now.

actually hoping he makes Louisville a perennial power.

And stays there for 20+ years. That would add to the ACC's credibility and increase Clemson's spot in the playoffs going forward.

Care to explain how Louisville being a perennial
power would help Clemson if Clemson loses to this
perennial power?
Bad enough we have to beat FSU for a spot in the playoffs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because I feel that Clemson can also be a perennial power

Jan 9, 2014, 6:28 AM

it's really not that hard to understand.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

one thing you are overlooking

Jan 9, 2014, 7:54 AM

Fsu proved this year that the acc's media cred is irrelevant.

OOC strength, SOS, polls, credibility are meaningless. Winning trumps all. If you don't win and get left out, so be it.

5 of the last 8 national champs have had at least 1 loss.

Jan 9, 2014, 8:10 AM

They were all SEC teams. The perception of their opponents, rightly or wrongly, was a major factor in them getting into the top spot over undefeated and one loss teams.

SOS and polls and credibility are very important. As we move into a 4 team playoff, it becomes even more important.

I too don't get the thinking of those that want to keep the ACC weak to better chances of winning all the games.

Look what the SEC has done over the past 10 years and what strength of a conference has done for SCAR.

SOS will become much more important when the playoff committee looks for 4 teams......just like the NCAA Tourney committee often leaves out teams with good records because their schedule was weak.

"Look what the SEC has done over the past 10 years and what strength of a conference has done for SCAR."

And what exactly has it done for SCAR? They haven't been able to win their division, conference or go to a big time bowl. And they never will.

Do you really think SCAR would be 33-6 over the past 3 seasons without the SEC? Do you think Spurrier would be coaching at SCAR without SEC affiliation? Do you think SCAR would be making $60 million or whatever it is a year without the SEC?

The question really is, what has the SEC not done for SCAR?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

All of that is meaningless

What are you saying? Clemson can only handle one other good team in the ACC? Good competition is good for everyone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I do think that in a weird way, this will be good

For the ACC

I do.I would have loved to see
how we would have fared against Charlie Strong, who from everything I have read ,is a class act unlike Petrino.
I wish Louville success, about 2 or 3 years from now after Petrino is canned.

I don't care that much about what happen ex eat Arkansas. It's how he left the Falcons. He screwed over a lot of families by doing what he did

I think the lack of credibility will catch up with him in recruitingand second times around dont always work out.

The AD who is there is the same as before. The same one both he a slick Ric have made look like a bozo. It is a weak desperate move by him

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would anyone hope Petrino fails? Hoping anyone who has

Jan 9, 2014, 7:09 AM

made a poor decision in the past fails in his future endeavors says more about your character than it does about the one who is on the comeback trail.
I don't understand why some people thrive on the failures or mistakes of others. Seems to me we have all made mistakes along the way on our path to the grave. Would you want others to hope you fail?
Of course I hope we beat them but that's because I'm a Clemson fan; not because I'm pulling for Petrino to fail.

Scumbag or not he's a great offensive mind. Will give ACC defense's fits for years to come.

No, everyone deserves a 2'nd chance.

Jan 9, 2014, 7:16 AM

I hope he talks UL to the top 10, but just can't beat Clemson for some reason. He screwed up, but he also cost himself millions and was humiliated. He's done his time.

Jan 9, 2014, 8:12 AM

I hope LV has great success...just not quite enough to beat us on the gridiron.

And remembering who they are replacing as members, a whole lot of people, including Clemson folks, are glad to welcome the Cards aboard.

remember that Merryland -- despite what we think of its fanbase -- stood in our corner (along with Wake Forest) when the ACC athletic directors voted to give us an extra year of probation in 1982.

So many questionable actions at that athletic department. You can basically do what you want and get away with it. Unethical past, embarrass your employer, get arrested, do drugs, whatever it may be....you are always welcome at Louisville.

Jan 9, 2014, 9:24 AM

I just hope he doesn't let the inmates run the asylum like he did last time and put them behind the 8 ball for years. Remember, John L. Smith is the one that had Louisville rocking. Petrino just managed it for a couple of years.
