stay 4 or 5 years when the rest of the QB room is comprised of 4 and 5 star recruits that are likely to either start and leave after 3 years or transfer if they don't win the job.
And who knows... he may even turn out to be the real deal and push DJU for the starting job. Either way Clemson wins.
I agree with everything you said with the exception of "cannon arm".
If I had to guess, I would say his arm strength may be the difference in him being a more coveted prospect and him being a preferred walk-on.
On the bright side in that area, he seems to have a baby face so some more physical maturity and a college weight room could really help his arm strength.
