Nike update

Feb 7, 2019, 4:29 PM

Are we still avoiding Nike or is that no longer a concern? My footwear and apparel has moved largely to New Balance, but perhaps I’m beating a dead horse.

My wife bought me those Nike CLEMSON shoes about 1 week prior to finding out about Krapernick. I love the shoes, maybe the best I've ever worn. BUT - I won't buy another pair from Nike until years after they can Krapernick. It is still a huge issue with me. I have NB shoes too, and they work fine. I do not support enemies of the State.

I'm pretty sure all of those African American athletes for whom you cheer "Go Tigers!" support Kap. They, like him, have to deal with the same injustices when they are in the real world. If you can't see that then it's you who has the problem. Nike, with the uptick in revenue and stock value, has only benefitted from your "boycott." That one pair of $50 dad shoes your wife would buy you every five years didn't register in the profit margins anyway.

Get over it!

Such a well reasoned reply. I cannot fathom why folks don't understand that the "take a knee" movement had nothing to do with disrespecting our military and first responders. When and how did football get so intertwined with college and pro football?

Meant to ask, "When and how did sentiment toward the military get so intertwined with college and pro football?"

If the kneelers cannot respect the freedom that so many fought and died to give their sorry azzes, then not only NO, but HEll NO I won't support them. My dad was on Omaha Beach 6/6/44 (okay, I know you have no clue what that day was, but maybe you can get someone to help you Google it) fighting for the freedom that these a-holes disrespect. Boycott continues.

And YES - I'm old.

And as far as 'injustices', how would you feel if you had just graduated from CLEMSON after sacrificing for years to pay my way thru, only to be told that my resume indicated I was the best one for the job (that I desperately needed and had earned) that I was "Not Black and Female"? Affirmative Action slammed my "White privilege" into the turf. It was months before I managed to land a job after that. So don't give me that "injustice' crap. And also, in business for 40+ years, I dealt with the Race Card and Black Privilege frequently. At times watching White people have promotions taken away from them and given to Black people simply because the company did not want to fight the Race Card. Black Privilege exists even though you sound too dumb to recognize it.

My favorite experience as an IT Director was when I was called into HR to get my opinion on minorities getting the lowest raises. I stated that a Thai person got the largest raise, and a Philippine got the second largest raise. I considered them to be the 'minorities' since we had numerous Blacks in house. The meeting was adjourned with NO ACTION immediately afterwards. Shortest meeting I ever had. Blacks keep thinking THEY are the only people that are minorities or are suppressed and suffer injustices.

Get over it.

Orange Lightning .. well said and true. People, have their heads in the sand if they don’t they know the business world has turned to the other extreme. White males are the ones being discriminated against and are being stepped over for promotions and jobs due the corporate quotas on diversity metrics. White males are at the disadvantage in the corporate world today. That is a fact.

With all due respect...I truy believe many people are for whatever reason missing the whole reasoning behind the take a knee movement. Nevertheless, I respect your position and your right to have it. ??
