May 5, 2013, 9:18 PM

Old ACC / Old Big East or north/south

Re: New ACC divisions

North South..... That is the only way to go...... The ACC just needs to bite the bullet and move to this format.

play 3 from other div each year you don't play ND and 2 plus ND in the years you do play ND.

Make your own div record the only thing that matters for reaching the title game so the potential for uneven games played don't impact any standings.

You have a total of 9 games INCLUDING years you play ND.

If you are only going to count div. record...then go ahead

and make the ACC the 2nd most powerful conference in NCAA football.

North:
Notre Dame
Miami
L-ville
BC
Syracuse
Pitt
Navy (6 football games only)

South:
FSU
GT
CU
Wake
Duke
UNC
NCST
VT
UVA

The team with the best divisional record goes to ACC-CG.

Everyone plays 8 or 9 conference games except Notre Dame and Navy who only play 6 conference games each.

May 5, 2013, 9:46 PM

They are a season away from from struggling every year for the 4th position in the east. It's just not sustainable for them to compete against Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

correct, those teams are all back to normal, bye scu***

May 6, 2013, 9:28 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed. The ACC needs some serious traction as a football

May 5, 2013, 9:48 PM [ in reply to Re Put us in the the division that has the best teams. I ]

league, and I'd rather see us taking on the best the conference has every year.

If Louisville was on board now, it's be great to see divisions look like this:

Clemson
Va. Tech
FSU
Louisville
Ga. Tech
Pitt
Miami

Then,

NC State
UNC
Syracuse
Wake
BC
UVA
Duke

6 in-division, 2 out, with division records deciding division champions.

These divisions represent the 7 best conference records over the past 3 years and the 7 worst conference records.

Every two years swap out the worst team from the top division with the best from the other.

The conference title game has been a dud since its inception. This gives every team a shot at the championship every year without watering down the schedules of the better programs along the way.

May 5, 2013, 9:54 PM

those divisions would be awful.... and the championship game would have worse attendance than this years every year

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Have the upper division champion host the title game.

May 5, 2013, 10:04 PM

Attendance problem solved.

You just split the best and the worst and put them in two different divisions? Worst. Idea. Ever.

keep NC State?

UNC
Syracuse
Wake
BC
UVA
Duke

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Most logical way to do it

May 6, 2013, 1:36 AM

ACC North:
Va Tech
UVA
BC
Louisville
Syracuse
Pitt
Wake

ACC South:
FSU
Miami
GT
Clemson
UNC
Duke
NC State

North and south is the only thing that makes sense for traveling purposes. These divisions protect all of the old ACC rivalries except for wake. But anyway you draw up the divisions one NC school gets screwed and I figure it has to be wake because they're the most irrevelant in football and have the smallest crowd turn out anyways.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Having Syracuse and BC in our Division should help in

May 6, 2013, 8:22 AM

Recruiting.

The weather and girls makes Clemson an easy "sell" to football players from New England.

It is good to play in FL, GA, and NC every year. But it is also good to play in New England every year.

I know you may not care much about playing Syracuse, BC, and L-ville...but is playing UNC and Duke really that much of a step up from Syracuse, BC, and L-ville?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Having Syracuse and BC in our Division should help in

May 6, 2013, 10:05 AM

I agree.

I'd rather watch Clemson v. 'Cuse, or Clemson v. Louisville over Clemson v. Duke/UNC.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The problem is

May 6, 2013, 10:59 PM [ in reply to Having Syracuse and BC in our Division should help in ]

there is very little talent in NY and New England. Better to get more exposure in NC where there is talent, or better yet more exposure in VA.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Heres how I would do it....

May 6, 2013, 10:08 AM

South/North Divisions

South..
Clemson
Miami
Ga tech
Syracuse
Louisville
Wake For.
Duke

North..
Florida State
Va tech
Boston College
UNC
Pitt
Va
Nc State

#21 (thoughts)

I'd rename those divisions first....***
