So.....Coach Ford was right then and O'Cain was wrong.
No shocker there.

This was the problem with Bowden

Aug 2, 2016, 11:19 AM

You gotta believe you can before you can. Sure, he upgraded facilities, but did anyone, EVER, accuse the man of motivating his teams? I believe I once read where he said it wasn't his job to motivate his players. Still believe that, CTB? The atmosphere was choked full of excuses.

Heck, I like West more than Bowden. West I could believe was a believer. He just didn't have the players. Bowden, he believed in his paycheck.

Dabo said, "no excuse". Let's get it done.

And, well, he did and is.

I hated wandering in the wilderness, the Hatfield - West - Bowden years.

We have once again arrived at the Promised Land - Led by a believer.

That's all.

Just kinda needed to get that out there.

West was the worst hire ever. Proof appeasement never works

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

West tried to run Ford's schemes with Hatfield's recruits.

Aug 2, 2016, 11:38 AM

So I'll counter with Hatfield was our worst hire ever.

Interesting that this would appear to be our highest preseason ranking since 88, when a number of preseason pubs had us no 1. AP had us 4. See link. That was just prior to the puntrooskie game.

How sweet it is to be relevant again.

The Clemson family was hurt and split in January 1990

Aug 2, 2016, 12:37 PM

with Ford's firing by the admin. We wandered lost for almost 20 years. It was tragic but I think it has made us stronger with the hiring of Dabo and the last 8 years of conference titles, bowl games, and playing for the NC.

And good thing! My VHS tapes from the 80's were getting real old by 2011. ;)

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of unfortunate hires, who remembers Hootie Ingram? At least he was driving the bus when we picked up the Tiger Paw!
