Can someone explain why so long?

Jul 21, 2016, 11:04 AM

I obviously don't know the TV industry. It seems like something like this shouldn't take 3 years. A lot of the games are already being televised so they could "go live" with what is already present and perhaps the smaller sports might come on line 2,3 years later.

Glad to hear this though.

I find that date very interesting, as I believe this is the year that Notre Dame's current TV contract terminates...makes me wonder if there is a correlation here.

ND - NBC deal is through 2025***

Raycom...thank Swofford for that***

You mean the rights Swofford sold to ESPN,

Jul 21, 2016, 12:03 PM

then ESPN sold them to stations(including Raycom) all over the nation ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ACC required that Raycom be a partner when they

Jul 21, 2016, 12:17 PM

negotiated the deal with ESPN years ago which surprised even ESPN because they got a better deal out of it.

Swofford's son happened to be working at Raycom at that time, you can connect the dots there

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Had thsoe 3rd tier rights that were sold to Raycom

Jul 21, 2016, 12:28 PM

not been sold to Raycom, they would have still been sold to someone else just like the other rights that Raycom didn't get were.So there'd still be a wait until those contracts expired , to get the 3rd tier rights back.No math or whining about the same old tired sh!t required.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ACC could have kept the 3rd tier rights or negotiated

Jul 21, 2016, 1:59 PM

a better deal for them...Big Ten and SEC did a much better job of leveraging them to make $$ instead of giving ESPN the entire farm.

But this is getting out of the scope of the original question of why this network isn't launching for 3 years. It's due to Raycom

Those dots have long been connected, they are drawing lines on the new dots.

3 years? Won't happen. They'll change their mind 50 times between now & then

Jul 21, 2016, 11:05 AM

ESPN will find a reason not to do it between now and then

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NO FARMERS NO FOOD

Any word on the financial terms of this partnership?***

Kudos for not forcing football to 9 game schedules to make

Jul 21, 2016, 11:06 AM

this happen. I trust Clemson leadership had a lot to do with ensuring that as this process unfolded.

Didn't I read somewhere that another part to this agreement was that if Notre Dame joins a conference before 2036, it has to be the ACC?

I hope they are left out of the 4 team playoff at some point and the sole reason is that they didn't play in a conference championship game! They they will be forced to join a conference like the rest of us! GO TIGERS!

They will within next few years, depending on $$$$$ institutions get. But with expansion iminent, prolly gonna happen. As much as I hate them, it will be good for all

Does this mean no more F-ing blackouts with our games on ESECPN 3? If not they still haven't done sh!t to ensure we have televised games. I'm pretty sure that there is a hidden cost somewhere in my TWC bill used to pay for the ESECPN 3 network, then ESECPN 3 blacks us out, and that way more than sucks!!!

Wonder if these pin heads will allow Canadians to get this channel? Like pulling teeth trying to get a CLEMSON game in Toronto

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds like the same crappy coverage we already have ? "Enhanced digital coverage" . Sounds like ESPN3 aka online , is being renamed. Sounds like Raycom is being renamed.
Either launch an actual channel or quit signing agreements that tie us up with nothing in return!!
