I know this may be painful to review, but anyone else confused as to why Scott's catch in the corner of the end zone was an incompletion. I understand that I may not know the rules, so it may all be perfectly explainable. He caught the ball in the corner of the endzone, put his foot down, and only lost the ball after a second or so when the Bama player tugged it out. It seems to me, that he caught the ball. When someone crosses the goal line with the ball it's a TD, even when they lose the ball immediately in that situation. Someone set me straight.

I believe it has to do with "completing the process of the catch". If a player goes to the ground while catching the ball, he must "complete the process" through the entire fall and remain in control of the ball.

a better question is why wasn't it pass interference? the defensive back basically prevented scott from raising his arms to catch the ball.

YeP...Bammer player came over both of Scott's outstretched arms & hacked him!

B/4 ball even got there..and as such should have been a penalty. This is more a penalty to me than pulling on a receivers jersey or holding onto his backside.

This hacking across the receivers outstretched arms b/4 ball arriving is flagrant!
