Brownell/Martin comparison...LOL
Mar 18, 2017, 12:55 AM
|
|
Martin: 2013 14-18 2014 14-20 2015 17-16 2016 25-9 (2 Round of NIT) 2017 22-10 (2+ round of NCAAT)
Brownell: 2011 22-12 (1 play-in, 1 round of NCAAT) 2012 16-15 2013 13-18 2014 23-13 (NIT semi-finals) 2015 16-15 2016 17-14 2017 17-16 (1 round of NIT)
Martin is clearly trending up, especially considering he now has his own recruits and the program was in the dumps when he took over.

the ONLY trend that is relevant is

ACC vs SEC.
Had Brownell's team played the weak-azz schedule of the SEC
they'd be in the NCAA too.
I did a specific comparison of the two schedules last week
showing that while Brownell's team was playing 16 NCAAT teams and 8 Top 5 seeds
Martin ONLY played 8 NCAAT teams and 3 Top 5 seeds -
AND that Brownell's team had a better record against NCAAT teams than Martin.
Yet I don't remember you responding....Nope...
Clemson fans who ignore FACTS to celebrate their blood-lust -
just so they can personally "feel" in control -
aren't Clemson fans to me, sir.

You make a good point, but that is the EXACT same arguement I've heard out of coots concerning football for decades. You play who you play, and if you can't win in your league, move on.
I've never once heard Dabo mention strength of schedule, and our football team played the toughest schedule in the nation and almost won every game. It's because Dabo is a winner, and is not concerned with other team's schedules

dang you people aren't as logical as you think you are....
The preeminent argument on here for firing Brownell is that he hasn't made the NCAAT, no?
Yet I showed with a comparison in schedules that a 5th place team in the SEC
doesn't have as good a schedule as a 12th place team in the ACC.
I don't argue he should win more games -
I simply argue that the NCAA Committee chose to take a certain number from the SEC
without regard to schedule, and
that Clemson would have been a better choice than USuCk for the NCAAT
based on schedule and head-to-head,
as well as the fact that Clemson was 3-0 against the SEC this year...
Martin is NOT on a trend up that has passed the program at Clemson -
that's only in the little minds of the people who believe the NCAA aren't politicians.

I'm buying that arguement. I don't believe Clemson belonged in the NCAAs this year, however USuC as a 7 was a joke. They should heave been a 12 and played a 5.
I simply hate the "conference" arguement in itself. Better leagues draw better players and coaches, and it all evens out

Are we beginning to sound cootish? ACC ACC ACC
The conference argument was destroyed by the playoff system thus our Championship, but that's not the issue here.
The tourney is the measuring stick, no matter the conference.

Didn't Clemson beat SCAR this year? And 3 of the last 5? And went undefeated in its play against the SEC (3-0)?
