My way too early and unfounded Top 25+

With preseason ranking and potential year-end ranking in parentheses.
USC 1 (1) LSU 2 (2-4) Oregon 3 (2-4) FSU 4 (3-12)* Depends on Clemson game Oklahoma 5 (3-7) Should be #2, but so much staff turnover Alabama 6 (5-7) Georgia 7 (6-9) If the Akron Zips had their schedule, they’d be BCS contenders, too. Wisconsin 8 Michigan 9 (9-11) Clemson 10 (5-15)* Depends on FSU game Arkansas 11 (9-11) Ohio State 12 (11-13) Texas 13 (12-14) Michigan State 14 14-16) Oklahoma State 15 (12-18) TCU 16 (15-20) S. Carolina 17 (20-30) Very generous because of last year. Will likely plummet throughout Oct. Virginia Tech 18 (17-19) Boise State 19 (18-21) WVU 20 (16-22) Nebraska 21 (19-22) Stanford 22 (20-24) Louisville 23 (20-27) UCF 24 (24-27) USF 25 (24-27) Kansas State 25 (24-26) Florida 26 (19-22)Will surprise a lot of feathered folk N. Carolina 27 (23-30) Notre Dame 28 (I think their schedule will be taken into account) Washington 29 (28-30)
Thoughts?

Polls should not start until, after week 5 at least. I would prefer week 8 but........

I would switch Oregon and Bama in the pre-season polls. As far as your comment about OU...yes and no. We lost BV but gained Mike Stoops..which was DC there before so he is familiar with the systems.

Just my opinion but I think FSU is way too high. I'd put Michigan at number 2. I'd slide both LSU and FSU down at least a few spots. I think WVU and Louisville will end around Top 15.

For USC to be #1 they will be 13-0...

That means Oregon loses to USC two times. Thers no way oregon with two loses will be ahead of a one loss Alabama team, whos only loss is to LSU.
Hopefully we will beat fsu but if not i hope they win out.

the October stretch is tough. I'd say that all 4 of our opponents then, have better talent than we do.

UGA and LSU do. Florida is a push because of their great D. South Carolina is way better than Tennessee at this point though.

I think you're gonna see the Tennessee offense blow up in a big way this year. Justin Hunter and Da'Rick Rodgers are both insane, Tyler Bray is a good QB, and they have some good RBs. I don't know how good their D will be, but if they stay healthy on O, they'll be scary on that side of the ball.

Dabo better blow them out, a loss is unacceptable. I don't think FSU is better than we are. Talk about a team fails to live up to the hype.

WHAT?? JAWJA PLAYS AN SEC SCHEDULE???? IT AIN'T EASY!!??

j/k....looks like a pretty reasonable Top 25 to me. I'm sure Georgia fans will act like they play in the NFC East though if you mention how favorable their schedule is.
I really, really hope that the wheels fall off of SC this year. 2012 would be a great year if we beat their @$$ and they had a rough season as well.

Sorry, but anybody who thinks

they can accurately rank this many teams for the end of the season is completely out of their mind. Might as well have a monkey make the picks....
And my thoughts are, Clemson could very possibly end up undefeated come bowl season...

Oh no! I wish I would've thought of that! I just put down my kids' college fund on an offshore betting site thinking this was SOLID!
It's called midsummer speculation for a diversion. Lighten up, Francis.
Anyway, I should've thought about the Oregon thing. I've got them too high. My guess about Alabama, though- they aren't going to be one loss. Two, maybe three this year.
As far as us, we might go all the way. We have a decent schedule. FSU will be a hurdle, but we got the guns for sure. I am paranoid about our late-season flakiness, though. I see us losing an oddball, maybe Wake.
As far as the coots, I don't give a crap what they're ranked, though I would like them to have a perfect season until November. I'd like to be there in the Valley and watch their obnoxious fans when that turdship they're sailing hits the rocks hard. I used to wish them success, and wished for a good rivalry like FSU and Florida have, but their fans are so ridiculous with just a small taste. It's hard to live in SC and wish them better than the worst. Doesn't matter though- they're f'ed with the sched they've got. Their bits of joy have come from everyone else being down. Georgia doesn't have Boise right before them, UF is going to take them to school on D, and our coach FIANLLY realizes that the Coots are our "Auburn," and yes, it is important to beat them.

Losing at Wake on a Thursday night just five days

after a big game with VT would hardly be oddball. The traveling team has a decided disadvantage on Thurs. nights.

USuCk team and go on to win the ACC and possible play for a NC, or would you rather "the wheels fall off of USC" as some of you have said and have then bring down our SOS?

Three things
Jul 15, 2012, 9:29 PM
|
|
1. I don't see Boise being that high. They lose a ton off of last year's team, and even the biggest Boise homer expects an 8 win season at best
2. I look for Michigan State to take a step back.
3. UCF isn't going to be that high because of Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles were always known for defense over the years and they now have a coach who understands that. Between Ellis Johnson and Tommy West they'll field a solid defense, and they have enough talent of offense to top Central Florida in CUSA.

Do you even know how USM did last year? They only scored less than 24 points 1 time and gave up more than 20 points 8 times.. what defense are you referring to?

South Carolina outside of the top 25? Yeah right.. lol.
South Carolina and Clemson both enter that game in the top 20.
Arkansas will not finish in the top 10.. they will lose at least 3-4 games this year...
Also, if you really think UGA is the preseason number 7 team in the country, you are insane. They are pretty talented, and they may very well finish from 6-9 because of their schedule, but they are not that good..
