Cousin of mine was working in Japan a couple years back. Got the chance to go to China for a day or two and took it. Said it was, and I quote, "Nasty". Trash all over the place, eye burning pollution, open air food joints selling snakes and lizards and whatnot. Not racist, just realist.

When I was there 30 yrs ago it was nothing like the USA. They would eat anything.

Since Covid started I’ve been following a British expat living in Wuhan who every week or so does some great Periscope live streams showing what life is like there. I’m not sure how he hasn’t been censored yet.
People have no idea how sophisticated most cities in China have become. Unfortunately, they are led by a bunch of totally ruthless authoritarians but I’m sure the genius making that ridiculous comment actually appreciates this about them.

You should go because I have a feeling they will love you. We had to take all of our own food because back then you did not eat their food. I have not been back. Maybe you and China Joe can go and give us all a report.

That was over 30 yrs ago. They have come a long way in just 30 yrs by stealing all of our technology. In some case we gave it to them.
