Top Notch Staff being assembled

Eventually the only criminals left in America will be conservatives.
My fav quote: “They are not criminals,” Becerra said. “They haven’t committed a crime against someone, and they are not acting violently or in a way that’s harmful to people. And I would argue they are not harming people indirectly either.”
- I guess costing taxpayers $billions a year isn't considered indirect harm.

ranger,
I have a question about this that I have been wanting to ask. Bear with me a minute while i lay it out,
Conservatives estimate that there is between 12 and 20 million illegal immigrants in this country. So let's say 16 million, OK ?
Conservatives also say that the american economy (pre-Covid) was the greatest economy ever - new businesses, job creation, low unemployment, etc.
So here's my question: If these illegal immigrants are screwing up our economy and jobs so bad, how did we get the greatest economy ever, while they are still in the country ??

It's pretty well proven that immigrants provide a net benefit to our economy. Maybe instead of treating them all like criminals (they actually commit less crime on average than US citizens do), it's a good idea to try to reform our system so that there is an easier path to citizenship. This would force immigrants to pay their share in taxes along with forcing companies to pay them a minimum wage, allowing for fairer competition for jobs. Just a thought.

The legal process we have now is flawed in a variety of ways, this article by the Cato Institute goes into some of the various struggles people face trying to enter the country legally.
I agree that it would be best for everyone to use the legal process, but that won't happen until we fix the process.
In my view, because legal immigrants are a net boost on our economy and we should try to streamline the process to allow more of them to enter the country. If there is an efficient and proven way to legally enter the country, then we can point to the people who choose not to use this system as criminals.
Until then, I don't think it's fair.

I remember trump promising (and attempting) to end DACA. Seems like any threats to their citizenship status were caused by trump himself.
