i took dad to his favorite eating place, Wendy's in clemson yesterday. the young man at the cash register noticed dad's army veterans hat and ask him when he served in the army. dad told him "wwII" the poor youngster looked shocked saying "you don't look that old, how old are you?" dad told him 94 as he turned and headed to his favorite table in the corner.

my father was born in 25. had to have my grandmother sign for him to join Marines when he was seventeen. He had graduated eleventh grade (that's all there were at that time, twelfth became optional a few years later). He was designated for invasion of Japan but bomb drops probably saved him (and me) from that. he ended up part of the occupation of Nagasaki. he passed thirteen years ago and I still miss him. wish i could have bought your dad a frosty or something. enjoy the time you have.
