My bud had a groundhog issue and trapped

Jul 22, 2020, 3:23 PM

a skunk.

I went over and we covered the trap with a sheet. then tried to pull the door. no spray.

then the cord ripped off the cage and SPRAY. my lord. only my shorts smell bad, but holy mercy. never been that close to one at actual spray. terrible.

cant shoot in city limits, unless in a gang or gang related discharge, so that isnt an option. There is actually 2 in there and 1 is dead.

If you place the muzzle directly on their head

Jul 22, 2020, 3:27 PM

it doesn't make much noise.

I hope it worked better for your dogs.

If mine get sprayed again I’ll call the dog catcher on them myself.

I was sprayed by one as a kid. Me and my brother both were sprayed. Tomato juice is what we took a bath in. As far as killing it, why not just let it go? Aren't skunks pretty harmless?

Re:lated, and maybe applicable

YEARS ago, we'd trapped (an actual) groundhog....had several around my parents' yard, eating up their garden and whatnot, driving the dog nuts...

those are some mean #######, too...

anyhoo, we threw the cage in the back of the '92 Jimmy (green, of course) and drove up to a wildlife preserve type area to release the lil guy....it was a good 10 miles away

couple of days later, that same little ##### was back in the yard...found (and made) it's way back, somehow....

we know it was him, because we'd spray-painted him gold before letting him go. not too many of those runnin' around...

That would have been interesting if you caught him again and took him 30 or 40 miles away to see if he could do it again.

I left it out for brevity,

Jul 23, 2020, 10:26 AM

but that was the 2nd time (we think) we caught that guy and brought him to the preserve area...

hence the spray paint the 2nd time around....
