Considering the stage, I think tonight was a great win for the Tigers. There was many a year that Clemson doesn’t have a chance to win that game, much less win. When one thinks about it, the Tigers were impressive tonight.
1.) Played over 1000 miles from home. 2.) Night game. 3.) ESPN GameDay. 4.)New coach for Texas A&M 5.) Very little film on opponent with offensive scheme 6.) Going up against offensive minded coach 7.) Playing in front of 100,000+ opposing fans 8.) Playing against very talented athletes 9.) Playing against a mobile QB who could throw 10.) Having to contend with a good bit of offensive holding (at least I thought so) 11.) Playing two QB system 12.) Lost momentum monumentally in the 4th Qtr and still won.
All in all, I think it was pretty good when considering the reality. I’ll take this win over 0-57 (FSU, 1993), 14-40 (UGA, 1994) 0-17 (FSU, 1994), 0-45 (UNC, 1996), 24-38 (MO, 1996) 3-34 (FSU, 1996), 0-48 (FSU, 1998), 11-31 (VT, 1999), 7-54 (FSU, 2000), 20-37 (MD, 2001), 31-48 (FSU, 2002) 17-45 (WAKE, 2003) 6-27 (TA&M, 2004), 22-41 (FSU, 2004) 10-30 (UVA, 2004) 7-24 (VT, 2006), 27-41 (FSU, 2008) 17-34 (SHAMECOCKS, 2009), 17-31 (GT, 2011), 13-37 (NC STATE, 2011), 13-34 (SHAMECOCKS, 2011)
I remember about all those road losses, and it wasn’t fun. I’ll take a BIG road win ANY day. Have a great evening. Go Tigers!!
