How Norman created that distinct guitar riff on the original

record has been a hot topic of debate for many years. It hasn't helped that he has given different answers at times. And that other people in the studio that day give even more different answers.
Nobody knows if he just doesn't remember and makes it up as he goes, or he's being coy and keeping the mystery alive. LOL

I've read several guitar forums and people try all sorts of things. I get lost in the jargon... pedals, 60's tube amps, pickups, custom fuzz boxes, etc etc. Rumor for years was that the speaker was partially blown, so people tried slicing cones with a razor...

Whatever. But apparently nobody can perfectly duplicate that sound...

A drunk will run a STOP sign, but a stoner will wait for it to turn green.

It sounds like a blown speaker.

It's got that metallic buzz.
