Most of the things Americans debate on are all

Jan 17, 2019, 7:44 PM

concocted by political parties for maximum effect.

The most important levers of power in this country are the military industrial complex and the federal reserve. We rarely talk about this. Both parties vote overwhelmingly to support whatever massive defense budget is thrown in front of them and people get annoyed when someone emphasizes the fed.

The most significant threats to our way of life are government deficit spending and our relationships with Saudi Arabia and Israel. We rarely talk about this. Both parties compete to sweep Saudi Arabia under the rug and suck up to Israel as hard as possible.

What do we argue about?

Police shootings, School shootings, MeToo, and Immigration.

Think about the nature of these debates. Are any of them specifically focusing on the individuals involved or the specific events? Nope. All these issues are being conflated and attached to "groups."

Police shooting debate isn't about too much power for the police, or constitutional rights for all. The debate is about institutional racism. We can't even come together about something most people agree on, police are shooting too many people, because politicians have been able to turn it into (through the corporate media) a divisive issue to draw people to or away from a political party.

School shootings are not about how to secure schools, or the correlation with certain types of anti-depressants, or mental health (both parties in bed with pharma). Those are not divisive enough. It's about the NRA, about gun ownership and about blaming a large part of society instead of the .00001% of people actually involved in these situations. Needs to be divisive.

The Metoo movement doesn't target rapists or the situations that result in rape. It targets masculinity, broadly. It targets "boys being boys." It created the notion of a "rape culture," which now includes not assuming that every accusation is accurate.

Immigration? The debate isn't about debating practical ways of limiting illegal immigration. It's about either having basic empathy for other human beings or being insensitive to suffering because of xenophobia.

There is a very obvious pattern that has produced tremendous results for the Democratic Party. The playbook goes like this... Take an issue which is very real and painful and find a way to attach the bad images and the evil actions with an entire group of people who primarily vote for the other party.

Look at debates now. Instead of logical dialectic, all we see is delegitimizing people or elevating people based on identity. White males usually vote Republican, and represented a majority of the voting bloc. So White males have been made the bad guy. Institutional racism... toxic masculinity... white privilege... double standards, Political correctness isn't just an annoying thing that "libs" do. It's completely infected our discourse to the point that it seems beyond repair.

Donald Trump is a disgusting, low-life. And Democrats created the environment that allowed such a person to be elected. He was the "That's it, I've had enough of this" candidate. Democrats tried to cheat and own all the facts, so facts now don't matter. They tried to draw divided racial lines when the US was trying to finally come together after the civil rights era, and now the factions are very real and entrenched.

This isn't going away until a disaster happens. George Washington tried to warn us about party politics. Oops. Carry on.
