One of those "Oh ####, you're Slash, how ya doin?"
Wasn't sure from a distance, cause small hat on, no top hat. But got closer, still had Slash hair, was positive.
My man had a FIIIIIIINE looking trashy blonde on his arm as they were traveling to where ever they were going.

Does that count? I met him (very) briefly after a Spoken Word show. One of my frans from Clemson got Hank to sign his arm in Sharpie, then got it tattooed on the next day. He still has it, since that's how tattoos work.

high school Philosophy Club, and took a group of her students to see Henry Rollins spoken word show at Tremont Music Hall. After the show, they were hanging around and got to chat with him, and he mentioned how cool it was that Mom had chaperoned kids to her show. The kids told him that she was their high school teacher, and while talking, he found out that he graduated high school the same year as Mrs. Tig (and myself). She said when he found that out, he got real chatty and they talked for almost an hour. When I saw him with Black Flag at the Milestone around 1980 or 81, he was neither friendly nor chatty offstage.

in terms of current popularity and fame, Jennifer Lawrence, tho i would personally rank her somewhere in the middle of my list
Phil Simms (had dinner w/ him...charity thing through my rich cousin, not Make-a-wish. This was in the 80's, so he was still hot shizz)
Lawrence Taylor & other Giants (local charity bazketbawls game)
Ozzie Guillen (F that guy)
Almost knocked over Ben Stiller walking in NYC. Neither of us stopped
Another Ben, Ben Folds @ the symphony in Nasvhille...went up to him and completely nerded out. I was about 35ish at the time.
(probably my personal fav) had an impromptu piano jam w/ Stevie Wonder @ Sam Ash music store in NYC (same day that I saw SCW, Obed, so you can prob imagine why i liked that video yesterday). Was awesome for me, but he probably couldn't point me out now.
Skied with Glenn Plake and Phil Maher, that was awesome.
John Popper & Brendan Hill (Blue traveler's drummer) few years after the height of my BT fandom, but still cool
Hung out on the set of the 4th Hunger Games movie for a day (hence Jlaw above), so whoever was in Jlaw's character's crew...Thor's brother, whatever his name is. But the coolest part was that one of the actors is Diana Ross's kid, so she was there hanging out behind the scenes where I was....easily the coolest part of that day
Hung out with Josh Ritter (IB4 Three's Company jokes) a few times which was cool because i was a fan before having a mutual frand in common. There may be 4 people in here who know who he is, but I dew recommend
i can't think of anymore, but i'm sure i'm forgetting a bunch

He gave me tips on how to play the bass and score with chicks.
None of his advice worked out for me as I was already married and had no desire to play bass anymore. But I appreciated the free drinks.

In no particular order just how they popped into my head
1. Hank Williams Jr - we both bought boots at Latigo Corners one time 2. John Glenn - got to spend about 30 minutes with him after he spoke at Furman (I was born the day he went into space) 3. Danny Ford - stood in line with him to pick up laundry many a Thursday afternoon 4. Carol Campbell - he spoke at the Clemson College Republicans 3-4 times 5. Sharon McCrumb - a very good author I've met several times and was trying to keep this from being a sausage fest 6. David Beasley - he spoke at the Clemson College Republicans 3-4 times 7. Ronald Reagan - shook his hand in Greenville during a campaign stop 8. Butch and the Buckheads - they crashed on our floor in Thornhill one night after playing at Edgar's

I worked a couple of those shows at Edgar's. I'm now 100% sure I served you a beer back in the day.
On a side note, Butch Evans had an original 1967 Gretsch G6123 Monkees edition hollow body guitar. I would KILL for that axe.

Cale - grew up with his kids Jimmy Buffett - drinking at the Rain Day Inn when I was in 9th grade Nicole Kidman - Helped a friend deliver her rental car when she filmed Days of Thunder. Nancy Humphries (odel) Was in central spirit with her. She was also the second person I met when I got to clemson. I dated the first person I met for 2 years. Had Nancy only been 2 minutes earlier...... Alabama - the band - friends with the Bowery house band when they had their reunion there Mickey Spillane - we got our hair cut at Donahue's in MI all the time (when I had hair) We also shopped at the same grocery store (A&P) Nikki Haley - tailgating Mark Sanford - CHS airport, no he wasnt on his way to Argentina....his son was with him. Strom Thurmond - spoke at Fraternity anniversary Lindsay Grahamnasty - still want to wash my hand every time I think of that. Phebe Cates - she did not get to meet me but was within 5 feet of me, when they filmed Shag. Truett Cathy - had dinner with him in DC at a convention Pat Riley - No hookers were involved. but spoke to him at a trade show / convention Kat Cole - President of Cinnabon. (HOT)
I wonder how many of them would have ME on their list?

In no particular order of importance:
1) Warrick Dunn (great guy, great charity and I could tell he was really passionate about it)
2) Larry Izzo (same USO tour as Dunn, but he was a d-bag)
3) Charles Bolden (former astronaut and director of NASA. When I was in 3rd grade, came to Fort Jackson school where my mother worked)
4) Lindsay Graham (came to visit SC Soldiers in Afghanistan, as well as do his AF Reserve time)
5) Nikki Haley (during the flood of 2015, she was at the EOC in Horry County where I was a liaison for the Guard. Ironically, my 9 year old and estranged wife ran into her coming out of a store in downtown Clemson on homecoming the next year. She was very nice to my son and didn't try to rush away)
6) But my greatest failure in celebrity meetings was brushing past Vince Vaughn on my way into the dining facility in a base in Iraq, not realizing who he was because it was 6 am and I was half asleep, and only realizing it when I was asked a minute later if i'd just run into Vince Vaughn, to which I replied "that's dumb, of course not". It was him apparently.

Lucas Glover (played a round of golf with him)
Danny Ford (had lunch with him and he spoke at our company)
Lynn Swann (met at the Masters)
Perry Tuttle (came to our office and hung out)
CJ Spiller (ran into him at Rick's Deli)
Richard Peck (author - met him at a speaking engagement)
all true stories
seems like I am forgetting someone.

Will only include those I actually had a conversation with....
1. Clint Eastwood - in Carmel eating at his restaurant The Hog's Breath Inn. We didn't talk long, because a lot of people were coming up to him at the bar, naturally. But he didn't seem to mind, he was chatting with everybody. He walked over to the piano and played a couple songs... he's very good.
2. Tom Selleck - in line behind him in a parking garage in L.A., hadn't noticed who he was until he spoke to the valet and I heard his voice. This was at the peak of Magnum PI. Damm he's tall... gotta be like 6-5. Very friendly, we talked for a few mins until they brought his car.
3. Elliot Gould - he walked right past me on the sidewalk in Chinatown and went into a jewelry store. I stood outside the store and waited for him to come out, like some hayseed tourist. He knew I recognized him, and just gave me a big grin, like OK, you got me. Said he was in town to read over a ###### with Whoopi Goldberg, I guess they were in a TV show or movie together.
4. Greg Rolie - got upgraded to first class on a flight from the west coast and sat right beside him. Had no clue who he was until other people started talking to him. He was in Journey then, but I was fascinated with his stories about the early days of Santana... Woodstock, living in the Haight with Janis, Jimi & Jerry, etc. I know I bugged him to death with questions, but hey, how many chances do you get to spend 4 hrs with a guy like this. I just kept buying him beers... (yes that's a joke)
5. the Woz - Steve Wozniak was at a company dinner I attended. I was working for Steeleye Technology and his company was called Fusion-IO... found out later he was there because there were some merger/acquisition discussions going on. Big dinner, probably 50 people, so I just got to meet him briefly. A lot of big egos in that room jockeying for attention...

dark side - my Clint story is kind of the same. ms midland and I were at the Bing Crosby golf tournament in the late 80's. There was a rain delay and somehow I ended up in the same tent with Clint and Bryant Gumbel. We chatted awhile. Clint was cool but Bryant seemed to be having a bad day. Fast forward a couple of months and I'm at Clint's restaurant. I walk up and tell the story about meeting him at the Bing Crosby and asked if he remembered me. He tilted his head back and gave me a squint and said "Yeah kid I remember you". I doubt he remembered but he acted like he did.

You know what's odd... I would've thought that Woz would be the coolest, but he was the least friendly of the bunch, by far. The rest of the ones I mentioned are huge celebrities, but at least they earned their notoriety by being extremely talented over a long period of time. Woz just happened to be in the right place at the right time and hit it big, almost like winning the lottery... and he was the one who acted like he was too good to talk to anybody else. Based on that, I bet the stories about Steve Jobs being the biggest ### on the planet are true...
