confident compared to what we had in the JL era? Also, the approach at the plate is much, much better and I don't see the same types of mistakes that cost us so badly in the past few years.
I'm really happy to see our guys getting their swagger back. Like the old days. Our players back them just had a confidence and intensity--but played loose--that really instilled fear in the opposition. I think we're seeing that again (finally).
Not saying we're going to Omaha, but it's pretty obvious Monte has the team going in the right direction.

Although we haven't played a tough opponent or in a hostile environment, I would have to think they are and will be much more relaxed under Monte than they were under Jack in the last several years of his tenure. Monte seems much more relaxed than JL, in general, so that has to trickle down to the team.

Monte is a WAY bigger player's coach than what JL was.

I've had multiple former JL players tell me they didn't care for him too much. There were reasons we played stiff all the time.

for speaking the truth. I had 3 players who played under Leggett coach me in high school and all 3 said some stuff about JL that wasn't very favorable. Sure he's a great coach over his career and was a good clemson man, but still.

I agree. We will see if that is still the case when we face USC and get into ACC play, but I do like what I see so far.

YALL REALIZE WE HAVE PLAYED MAINE AND JMU. PLUS MOST OF OUR OFFENSE RETURNS FROM LAST YEAR. THEY SHOULD BE BETTER. THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS I LIKE SO FAR WITH THE GUYS BUT IF YOU DONT MIND I AINT ANOINTING THEM TILL MAYBE SUNDAY.

The pitching seems to have improved by leaps and bounds. While, as you say, most of our offense is back from last year, Beer and Williams are new. And many of the returning players did not start last year. This team is way different in makeup than last years'.

I don't know about that. Pretty tough to improve on Crownover and Erwin.... The bullpen has been good thus far, but we'll see if we are able to keep it up.

Actually, the pitching is not better than last year. All 3 starters were drafted by MLB teams. We love Charlie and Clate, but to suggest that they are better than Crownover and Erwin is not accurate. The bullpen is doing great, but was great early in the years last year as well.
Also, with the exception of Beer and Williams, the starters are virtually the same - maybe in different spots, but the same nonetheless.

An early season sweep and destroying a midweek team we should beat.
That team last year had a phobia of beating anybody 3 times in a row. And midweek games were dismal.
Very excited to see how this team further develops.

Midweek wins are the difference between a 1 vs 2 seed, a 2 vs 3 seed, and a 3 seed vs 4 seed/bubble team. Wofford is probably the best team we have played thus far and we looked good against them Tuesday night.

I have not been able to get up there for a game BUT it sure seems like U are correct~!intense and loose is very good combination;; too bad Jack could not get that going!!

The only thing I see not good is the Sunday pitcher.
Jake is young and against good teams can not keep leaving the ball up over the middle of the plate.
I guess Coach Lee sees this also and has not decided who will pitch this Sunday.
