Any yous guys own a deli slicer?

Oct 23, 2020, 2:30 PM

I'm not sure I really have the space, but I always wanted one. Imagine smoking a turkey breast or beef roast and whipping up some sangweeches.

My granddad had one...

Oct 23, 2020, 2:50 PM

loved the #### thing. Never really understood why except I guess it was cheaper to buy the meat intact and then slice it yourself?

But he used to talk about it like it was the holy grail.

Still miss him.

Yeah, got one this one time I was watching

Oct 23, 2020, 3:03 PM

someone’s cat. Got locked out of the apartment so used the slicer to cut deli meat real thin to slide under the door to feed the cat.

Yes indeed.

Oct 23, 2020, 3:53 PM

It doesn't really 'slice' as much as it 'liquefies'.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I does. I gots mine at Cabela's.

Oct 23, 2020, 3:15 PM

The larger the blade, the longer it will stay sharp, so I got the 12" model.

Do not operate when you are even slightly impaired.

I doubt I would ever use it. It would be like buying a pachinko machine.

Play some Pachinko, play some Parcheesi

I'm smoking 10 lbs. of cured pork belly on Sunday, so

Oct 23, 2020, 3:37 PM

this would be useful in turning it into bacon slices. I definitely don't have room for it.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What do you use instead?

Oct 23, 2020, 3:52 PM

One of these mammer jammers?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have a 10" slicer, but that's a good idea. I'll pull out

Oct 23, 2020, 3:57 PM

Oct 23, 2020, 8:46 PM [ in reply to I'm smoking 10 lbs. of cured pork belly on Sunday, so ]

bacon, and my buddy and I split the cost on the Cabela's slicer. I make about 5 pounds at a time. I start it on Sunday afternoon with the marinating for 3 days, then smoke it, back into the fridge for a night, and then finally slice it up to share between us.

He just texted me that he was out of bacon. I have bought some regular bacon from the store in the meantime, but he and his wife like this stuff so much, it's all they want to eat now, bacon-wise.

Borrowed one to make some venison jerky. Gave it back to the guy and he died soon after. If I'd just kept it another month...

Love mine. Great for making jerky, btw
