Defense had no one to lead them or keep the guys focused...LEADERSHIP is a huge part of talent. With that being said, Jackson Carmen is sorely lacking this quality in the OL group.

Our lack of DT's was evident too. 3 man fronts are a flop for us.

Tyler Davis is a freakish talent... top 10 NFL draft guy. He’s criminally underrated. He’s probably better than CW or Dex.

Hoping J. Skalski can come back healthy and better than ever. Brian Kelly is going to be licking his chops for our defense the 1st half vs. BC.
But, Venables played well today. In fact, once the defense settled down I thought the unit as a whole played better!

Worse take of the day. We missed Davis the most and our DB sucked in the first quarter. Changes were made and we gave up zero points and 66 yards in the second half

It's just one game, but maybe Skalski is the team MVP because he's the most irreplaceable. This could be true even though Trevor and ETN are clearly the best players.
Jackson Carman has been the biggest disappointment of the season IMO. His name is being called way too often and he's been left flat-footed by speed rushers several times already. Run-blocking by the O-line in general has been pretty bad.

You are not wrong. He has averaged at least one big miss per game, often getting the QB blown up, plus multiple penalties. I thought after he got pulled last week for a series he played better. Maybe he needs to sit down a bit more.

You could be right, but IMO he is the 3rd most irreplaceable. I think ETN is CLEARLY the most irreplaceable, but we haven’t had the misfortune (thank heavens) to test that theory. I also put Tyler Davis ahead. Our defense is just so much more disruptive when he is on the field.

I don’t know why but the coverage got better in the second half. But yes our run D wasn’t as strong this game as it has been
