Not trying to be condescending, but how could a one and done player change a program? What would he bring that would change the program not just the one season? I look at Simmons and LSU as a comparison. Go Tigers!

A player who is mentioned as someone with the skills of Lebron James could easily put my Tigers to the forefront in a single season. It could certainly improve recruiting and that would be a big plus. If nothing else, it would certainly increase the fan following that is seriously lacking now. I agree with you about the 'one and done' but the positives are there

One player as a freshman for one year? I think not. "Program" as Dabo would say, involves a whole host of things, the entire recruiting footprint over many years, the "best" standard, family, and all of that. Re-think.

changer? Did it no lay the foundation for more 5 start recruits to come to Clemson? Watkins, Scott, DW4, etc.?
It's true that programs aren't built overnight, but they are started at some point, and the signing of the top recruit in the country would be a big help in doing that because it gets us noticed and can be used as a tool to show other kids they can come here, win, and go to the league.

If he is going to be gone in a year, what difference does it make where he goes, as far as his professional career goes. He will just be at the end of a long line of great players if he selects Duke, UNC, KY, Kansas, etc. He might like to go somewhere where he will make his own path. Yeah ..... I doubt it!

I saw him the first time he stepped on the court in the IPTAY invitational my friend. Did you? I think he scored ten that night if my memory serves me. I saw him many times in the few months he was a tiger. A great, great one. I’m betting Zion will be considerably better ... and with less bad habits!

I talked to coach Locke once and the investigation came up that evening. At the time, he was hot after Moses Malone. A guy who would have been a program changer for sure. MM eventually sold out to Maryland but never signed up for classes. I read where he showed up on campus in a new, red Chrysler. Anyone remember that far back?
Btw .. Locke said he was accused of buying Malone a 1963 Chevrolet . He thought it was humorous that some thought that Malone could be had that cheaply
