I stopped reading the list when I saw that NC State and FSU

were ranked higher than us. The rankings are crap.

I could see us in the high 20s or as low as 22 because

there is no rational way to put NC State, FSU, Binghamton, or Delaware ahead of us. We are very closely bunched with schools like UGa, Texas A & M, Purdue, UConn, Virginia Tech, Pitt and Rutgers in most ratings. US News has us even or slightly ahead of all or almost all of those schools, Business Journal has us slightly behind all of them (may well have been diversity that did us in). On the other hand, I was surprised to see us ahead of UC-Davis (US News always ranks UC-Davis well ahead of us).

Pretty impressive showing by College of Charleston and The Citadel though. CofC ahead of Tennessee and both ahead of Mississippi State, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Washington State, West Virginia and Louisville. Louisville's numbers are atrocious - 25% 4 year graduation rate? That's humiliating.

As a current student here at Clemson I can say, based on this year, Clemson's ranking on this list is pretty fair.

Yeah.. Same here. We've seen a lot of negative light shed on us in recent months..

They were probably referencing the death during rush, and

the racist party that made the news.

I'm guessing.

Looking at the factors they considered, I don't know how they are determining the best college. For example, how is median rent in the area in any way indicative of the quality of education you receive - is it "better" that the rent be high or low?

Median rent would be a "best value" thing, maybe not

"best" overall.

Diversity is what hurt us with only 3 stars. Every other category had 4-5 stars. I think Clemson's location and agricultural background hurt us here. Also, many schools are offering full rides to strong minority students so it's hard to compete there too.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

eh, they can keep their stars. Clemson is awesome***
